Does anyone know the difference between 92 and 93 ecm. dealer looked up part # 92 original part # is56027570and superseded to R6027081. . 93 Rebuily part # is R6029101 dealer said there is difference but he dont know what. Will these interchange ? I would like to keep original but I would also like to get reg. kit to have on hand . I plan on keeping this truck.

I do know that auto and std are different and also the CPLs are different for emission purposes if that helps any. Shad

Is there any chance that you can get both (donor and donee) engine serial numbers so that we can look at the ECM's through Cummins rather than Dodge???

Shad and I can't do anything with the Dodge numbers.

Mike.

If it was me id go to a bone yard and get a mini van one and put on it.
all they do is run the alternator ive heard the ac as well , i dont think the grid heater has any thing to do with it and that can be ran by a push button if it dont work . they are the exack plug in ive checked and there the same to 98

ecm numbersor interchangeabilty of

I could get engine # off my truck and I will try to get # off the other truck. I never thought to look for Cummins. One dealer said he thought the automatics would work on manualbut , the manual wont work on the auto because of the overdrive feature. Looking at the factory manual the only difference I can see in the circuts of the ecm are the overdrive circuts. They are blankin the manual list. Thanks a lot , maybe we can learn a lot from this, Thanks again

Ronald,

My apologies, I saw the term "ECM" in your first post and went skipping off to La-La Land. The rest of it (the 92-93 part) went in one ear and out of the other.

My whole week has gone in this fashion so far..... :{

Anyhow, what you want must be the "PCM" and Cummins can't help you with that. The gang above (Robert, Donovan, etc. ) are your best bet for advice.

I believe that I may haunt only lawn mower and weed whacker forums for the remainder of the week or until my mo-jo returns..... :-laf

Seriously I am sorry and hope that you find the info needed.

Mike. :)

And it continues, while loading stuff into the cab of my big M2 parts truck this morning I slipped on the icy fuel tank steps and went to the ground. Dislocated my left shoulder and spent the morning in the Hospital.

Plus spilled my coffee and crushed my smokes.

Am now typing one-handed in a sling with a slight Vicodin buzz on. :D

Onwards and upwards... ...

Dang! Get well soon bro!

The turbo differences are in the exhaust housing aren't they? Everything but the 91's had 18cm exhaust housings... and my 91 has a 21cm housing. I think.

Anyhow... what's this about minivan PCM's? Is that a viable source for us 1st gen owners? Wouldn't there be tons more of those floating around than ours?

Some of the mini vans had a push button over drive , but since the ECM controlls the voltage regular and there is some talk about the ac and the over drive id say yes why would Ma Mopar invent a new ECM takeing the same plug as the others , gas trucks as well ? they didnt our trucks dont need the ecm to run !!!!
