After being stuck here at the house for the best part of the last month I have decided that daytime TV is hardly worth the electricity needed to power up the flat screen.

I have learned how to sue, get a structured settlement in one lump sum, how to build perfect Abs, how to bend the Social Security disability system to my will and a host of other somewhat scary things.

I could not stand it on a long term basis. I shudder to think of just how many people are sucking this crap up and acting on it.

End of rant...

One exception, Burn Notice on USA Network just plain rocks. Very clever and interesting show.

Mojitos, anyone???

You could always go out and wax your truck with your one good arm... . and then sue Meguiars when your shoulder goes with all that new found knowledge :D
Its not just daytime TV that sucks, its about 90% of it. With the turn of the weather we always cut our satellite bill back to the bare minimum. How long are you off for?

That's where that "structured settlement" training will pay off... :D

I am working from home until May 1st, then I go in for surgery. After that I will be completely off for the first week or so, then revert to working from home. It is great both that they will allow me to do so and that my job is morphing into administrative and handholding work. Not that much different doing it from home nowadays thank to my Time Warner Road Runnin' internet service.

If it were not for the Time Warner service I could not possibly run everything needed to do my job. Some of these apps take mighty big horsepower to work well.

They are also in the process of installing a completely new phone system at all five stores. It is way overdue. That will tie all locations together plus I will have control of the parts dept. phones and can change the rules for inbound calls 100 times a day if I so choose. So if I am missing a man in Bangor and the action starts getting heavy I can set it to ring other stores if my remaining parts guys are already on the phone. Plus I can see any lines in use at any store so no hiding if I am sending them overflow calls... ... ... :D

It also will allow anyone to forward calls from their extension to their cell phones or home phones if desired, the customer will not even know that it happened. So if you have to leave your desk and be outside for a bit you can transfer your extension to your cell phone or in my case if you are working from home the calls will just ring here from my extension at work.

When the weather improves I really do need to give the truck a complete cleaning to prepare for the Columbus trip, but I have to go get it first.

It spent the winter in a garage two hundred miles away from here. I need to load up the batteries and head down to retrieve it, I'm hoping for this coming Saturday. I miss it.

The driveway down there is not plowed for winter as my mother boogies off to Arizona so have to wait for a "driveway all clear" signal from the relatives. ;)

Springstein has a line,"57 channels and nothing's on". Now its 500.

Remember, daytime tv is geared towards people who are home, and awake, with no ambition and nothing to do. The prime viewer for ad men. Hence, ads and programs that appeal to people who want things without working for them.

When the wife broke her ankle I have become the MASTER OF ALL THINGS around the house. I get up at 3am do my chores OUTSIDE and come in and fix breakfast for the two of us and while having breakfast I do a load of laundry if need be, after breakfast I clean the house and start some of the things she does. I can make bread, make Greek yogurt, cheese, and butter decide what we are going to have for dinner and get that out to either thaw or go out to the animals and do a chicken in or a couple of cornish game hens in and prepare them for the evening meal. Lunch is next on the list fix it and after that I get to go out to the wood shop and work on the Daughters or Sons kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinetry. If not I work on another project that has something to do with one or the others house. I walk by my projects just to see how much dust has settled on them and think

I LOVE RETIREMENT AND HAVING A LIFE OF MY OWN!!! TO DO WHAT I WANT, WHEN I WANT, HOW I WANT.

IF THE REST OF THE FAMILY SAY'S I CAN :-laf

Wise man once said, "I can do whatever I want, when nobody else is home... " :-laf

Or was that the words of an obedient husband...

BIG, you sound like a busy busy man. Busy is good for the mind and body, as long as you slow down once in a while to take a look at the scenery ;)

Thats really great theyre working with you like that. If you posted it earlier or in another thread I may have missed it but if its a non work related injury thats a great company to accomodate you in such a way, good for you. If it is work related, well Im sure your fine tuning your workman's comp skills so you can take an additional 6-8 weeks off and get some great hunting and fishing in :-laf:-laf

200 miles away from the love of your life  I would be going through withdrawls in a bad way! Cant say I blame you though, if Maine lays as much salt as good ol O-HI-O does, thats the only way to get a vehicle to last. I have a crewcab in my future as my little ones are not so little anymore and will soon outgrow the back seat of my 2nd gen. Ive already told the wife Im going to be doing the same thing, wash and wax it and stuff it in the back corner of the barn until spring time. All our family excursions are during the warmer weather so my 98 will handle any duties I need during the cancer causing months.

Some people work night shift and day time they pass their time with TV. There should be program that entertain such people who enjoy TV at day time.

Also, Sharon Gless playing the part of the chain-smoking mother is pretty good stuff.

Mike,

Obviously you haven't found Springer yet. Now THERE'S some daytime entertainment. It's like the People of WalMart, live edition. Oo.

Rusty

After the surgery, your mind will entertain you thanks to painkillers. I have the weirdest thoughts and dreams on that stuff.

I went on them last Weds. afternoon right after surgery and on Saturday stopped taking them. Flushed 'em.

In my case the pain from the surgery pales in comparison to the side effects of the pain killers.

As you say the dreams are right off the wall.

Also severe constipation, heartburn, light-headed, losing track of time, etc. to name a few.

I'll get by with aspirin and tylenol.

Told Doc that I ditched the stuff and asked if I could have Aleve, but he nixed it for now. Must affect the healing or the bone growing around the suture anchors.

She may be, but she's usually right on the money, and is not PC at all. I was referring to the participants on the show, not JJ.
