I got mine two weeks ago and put it on. We went camping that weekend and on the way my wife says "this truck sounds a lot quieter". I said thanks I needed that. It is quieter on the road and smoother too. I should have got one a long time ago.

Fluid damper is the way to go...

I installed one a few months ago on my 01. Definitely noticed the difference, shifting improved also, especially the shift into third. On the old damper, the rubber was starting to bulge... 145K miles

... Pulled the radiator and cleaned it as well... damn breather...

BTW; I picked mine up while in the states... what a hassle bringing it back. Because of the weight, I put it in my 'carry-on. ' Turns out the wimp at Security (who could barely lift it from the counter) said it could be used as a bludgeon... what a PITA... ended up having to check yet another piece of baggage... yeah well,

Ok. This truck is shifting like it has never before. Idle is smooth. It is a pleasure drive and listen to the motor.
I was skeptical when I ordered the Fluidampr but I am a happy camper!

I was like you Jeepit. I just can't believe how quiet my motor is now. I always liked driving this truck, but it is muck better now.

Ordered mine 9/6/12 with the discount code and it went back order. Guess Fluid Damper is pretty busy right now.

Ok so i here alot about the fluidamper and im leaning towards it as well do to the fact its one piece and it reminds of the caterpillar engines that i use to build for 7 yrs, but what is the comparison to the super damper? Has any1 had any experience with it or know of some1. I know its 3 piece i believe, its just alot of steps. Another concern is with its weight being more than the stock, does that add more wear to the front bearing and eventially cause premature failure???Oo.

Got mine installed. Not a HUGE difference, but it's noticellable. Shifts a LITTLE better. A LITTLE quieter. Might be more noticeable with more performance mods. RC.

Just put mine on this morning. About 2hrs taking my time. Didn't remove anything except the belt, hardest part of the job was holding the flywheel with a screw driver and breaking the bolts loose at the same time then retorquing the install. The original damper showed no signs of deteriorating but now I do not have to worry about it I hope.

The couple of extra pounds will make no difference on the front bearing, If you think about what happens on the front accessory drive, the weight of the damper is probably offset by the tension of the accessory drive tensioner and the pull of the engine fan when it engages. . I have had the Fluid Damper on my 04 for more than 25000 hard towing miles now and wish that I had installed it when the truck was new. . Huge difference for my engine. .

So I just finished up with the Fluidamper install and wish I could say that I'm as impressed as some folks on here. Really a disappointment for me. I was expecting some very noticeable changes but only felt a bit more smoothness at 2,000+ rpm in 3rd and 4th gears and I'm probably talking myself into that. Quieter? No. Idle quality? Same. Easier shifting? Nope. Would I spend the money and time again? Not a chance.

Maybe this is a better upgrade for someone with a worn out damper. At 145,000 miles, my original still looked good.

Anyone considering this keep in mind that the fan and shroud really need to come off to be able to see what you're doing. The Fluidamper is longer than the original and you need extra room to bolt it on. As it happens, my fan bolt is froze solid after not being touched for at least 6 years. Even the air hammer wouldn't budge it. I see now that Geno's sells a nifty tool to hold the pulley. Nice. Wish that had been available back when I was really into this stuff. I ended up unbolting the fan shroud and pushing it up far enough that I could get my hand in there to start the bolts. Had to start them and torque the bolts blind but I got it.

Just not worth the money and aggravation for me. Wish I could have given a glowing review. I was expecting more.

Just installed the xdp fluiddamper and the vibration is a lot less but still some there. Is there something else I should check? The stock damper rubber ring was pretty chewed up but still intact. 280,000 miles on the truck.

I bought one from XDP as well. It's sitting in the box waiting for its turn in my rebuild project. Got the TDR deal also.
