Was wondering if there is any info out there yet on the new 13s and if the addition of DEF has improved fuel economy. Thanks Bill

Thus far, my new 2013 short bed 4x4 4door is showing 16-18. 5 combined around town. I'm not heavy footed at all. Highway 65 70, it shows 20 + MPG... . I have not hand calculated it nor have I been on the highway longer then 30 miles etc.

My 2012max tow dually would barely give me13-15 period. Even worst most of the time.

Thanks guys, Bug Out if you ever do a long solo highway trip and hand calculate MPG would you mind posting your results? My old 12 valve does 18 to 20 in town and 21 to 22 on the highway solo. I just wish the newer trucks could do that. A 10 percent improvement with DEF is definitely moving in the right direction. Now if diesel prices would just stay at the price of regular unleaded and not 70 cents per gallon more.

I'm hoping to do a 300 mile ride this weekend up I-17 flagstaff area . I have just cracked 1000 miles. I'll post the results when I get back.

Did an almost 400 mile round trip a couple if weeks ago. 2013 Mega 4x4, and hand calculated got 17. 75 mpg. Filled up before I left and when I got back in town. The display said I was getting 19. 1. I'm happy with it.

Those displayed mileage readings scare me sometimes. I'm getting almost as good of mileage as I used to in my Toyota pick up. . :)

That's almost 18 MPG and considering the size of the truck not bad at all. Is your right foot heavy or do you drive conservatively?

I was driving fairly conservatively on that tank, just to see how well it would do. Drove at or below the speed limit and was pretty easy on acceleration and all. Just did an around town tank with less than 50 miles of highway driving, and averaged 15. 3 mpg.

700 mile round trip driving 70-75 mph. Going EVIC indicated 19. 8 mpg. Coming back EVIC indicated 22 mpg. Calculated was 19. 6 mpg for entire trip. Some pretty good head winds going is the only reason I can think of for the difference on mpg. Truck had 875 miles when the trip began.

How much DEF are you guys using? have you had to fill it several times? Sounds like mileage is somewhat better. How far can you go on a full tank of fuel?

Thanks for the info Firefighter. I would think as the engine gets more miles and loosens up mileage will get even better.

I filled up/topped off my DEF tank at my first fill up. I now have around 1950 on it, and I can't tell that the DEF gauge has moved at all. I read somewhere that said that you'll use about a gallon every thousand miles. The gauge better get to moving!

That's great that the mileage has come up from the 14-14. 5! Now they're getting about the same as my '06 Mega Cab... Awesome!

That was my favorite thing about my 06 Mega 2wd. I could go 800 plus miles on a tank if I was straight driving. Went from Little Rock to Huntsville AL, and back without stopping for fuel.
