Stacks & Rain

OK its time for me to do some stacks on my truck... but i have a few questions id like to ask and see if anyone can answer them for me... .

1 - What size is common? 6" or 7" or 8"

2 - I want Meiter cut... . What do i do about the rain when im not driving??



Those are my questions if anyone can give me some input id love it... . Thanks... ... and pics are welcome too!

I think size is a personal preference. I think the larger they are the less exhaust you have so, less cool sound? I had 4"x72" on my Ford (see sig) for years, I really like them. Then I loaned it to one of my boys and he went under a low clearance and destroyed them. He put a set of 6"x54" on and I didn't like them so I took them off, gonna order a set of 5"x72". I like the turnouts best. I would think a coffee can over them if it was going to rain would work. I have a picture of the Ford but it won't let me post it here because it is on another thread.

A small hole (+/- 3/16") at the lowest point in the exhaust elbow to the stack will allow any accumulation of water to drain out. I did it to mine and there is no noticeable difference in the sound. My stacks are 4" and like the size compared to the bigger ones. My truck has the DPF so even without a muffler there is not a lot of sound; certainly not like my '03 sounded.

I have a 3" stainless steel flex pipe running from the factory tubing up through the bed to the stacks crosspipe. Water in the stacks will drain through the flex pipe for the most part.

Coffee can but make sure you remove them BEFORE you fire up it will put some nice dents in the truck with paint chips as a bonus.

Does coffee even come in metal cans anymore? The plastic ones would not dent things. :-laf

Yeah, I'm not a fan of letting it rain in my stacks. I don't have any on my pickups, and there's a reason!! I HATE it when it rains on my KW and I don't get the stacks covered... ... It's base color is white... . after start up, it turns to Dalmation... ...

Want to put some # 2 lead in your pencil??? Try some of the extra BOLD, and when the trail is long, Red Bull aint anything compared to the 20% more caffeine!!!! of course BOTH OF THESE ARE BREWD COWBOY STYLE

Ever try turkish coffee there is some kind of narcotic in that stuff, Was working nights, went to a gas station and must have looked like " S " the raghead behind the counter (actually a nice guy) brought out a little cup of TAR with a spoon standing straight up in the middle of it. I drank that stuff and by the time I got to the Freeway I was ready to bite the front tires off the truck. :-laf

Silly fun with Stacks anyone?



Other than making my white truck filthy the water in Stacks doesn't not seem to hurt anything. I actually once put several gallons of water in my stacks, fired up and drove it hard so freinds could see the Black Rain fly from my stacks. Quite a sight.



Even better, wait until its about 20 degrees below or more, you can then shovel in some fine power snow and when you start the engine, it snows for a minute!



When it's this cold I also have poured in a glass of water. When I go through town as the exhuast warms it appears I'm a steam engine making white steam or fog... .



Fast food cups upside down in my 5" stacks wait till you throttle up, then become missles.



My wife driving behind me once called me and said " did you put something in your stacks?... . Because your truck just pooped a pinecone!" :-laf

I did that on my Grandfather's Moline Z, a couple of times... It was fun, as he ran it on drip/condensate from his gas well, and it would pop really loud once it started, igniting the fumes in the muffler..... The last time I did it was quite memorable. The can of Marvel Mystery (steel, of course) oil he had on it went up, hung for a second, then came down. One my head. And it bled. I thought I would die, or even worse!! (I was only around 12, and the bleeding was pretty bad from the scalp... . :-laf)

That's fun to do to random trucks at the rodeos... . All the kids down here think it's cool to have the stacks, the bigger the better. I like to stuff towels, socks, blankets, small cats, potatoes..... whatever I can find. The bigger the stack, the more fun!! (and stuff you can stuff!!) The sack of flour was the best.....
