Did anyone here go to the Cummins tour yesterday(I think it was) where they unveiled the newly restored D0001 truck, the first first gen with Cummins power? I would love to see pics of it...

Michael

Yes I did but did not have my camera with me. Could not take the camera on the plant tour so left the camera in the camper. Wish I did take it with me could have used it on the out side grounds. I think the truck might be in issue 81when it comes out in Sept I think?

Also, they are still looking for N. O. S. "Prospector" badging for both sides at the rear of the pickup body. If any of you have a line on those please raise your hand. That is the last thing that it needs.

Mike.

Thanks for the updates..... now does anyone have a pic to add of what it looked like before the restoration. Its super cool to see the "experimental" projects still in existance and service instead of being scrapped. Gotta remember where all these newer hot rods, tow vehicles, and pulling trucks came from. This was the beginning of something very cool.

There was a binder on the seat when it was at the plant Friday. I looked through it and there were pictures of the truck as it was and also of the frame off restoration.

I will be willing to bet that Robert did his picture of picture thing and has them.

Thanks, Mike. I think it's great that Cummins, Inc. has preserved and now restored the first Dodge-Cummins truck ever. I love the story of the two visionary, determined, and slightly renegade engineers at Dodge truck and Cummins who made that possible operating on their own initiative and without approval.

LOL Yes, I do have MANY pics of this truck. Like 100+ ;)

Will work on getting pics from the event and this truck uploaded!

Mike, no. I did not get pics of the binder. But working on getting originals from Cummins. :D

Nice seeing you all down there! Hope everyone had a safe trip back!

EDIT: Joe, you were down there!? :eek: And I didnt get a chance to say hello!? #@$%! EGADS!!!! Would have loved to meet you! :{

I've forgotten his name, but there is a TDR member, or past member, who was a design engineer on the Ram/Cummins project. He had some amazing stories when I spoke with him years ago.

His name escapes me, unfortunately...

What is the story on the Blue one?

Michael

That is the first Cummins Ram off the assy line.

How about Troy Simonsen? :) That the one you are looking for?

I flew to Indy and drove a rent-a-roach (toyota, gasp). That little car is the best advertisement for a new Ram I have ever experienced, lol. Since I plan to order a 2014 3500 SRW, I wanted to learn as much as I could about the 2013. 5-2014.

Joe D: I too wanted a chance to meet you too as with BAchwarzli but had no idea you came. There will be other opportunities some day.

It was amazing to see a fully restored D001 test and development truck. :)
