Happy 4th

Last Thursday we had record rainfalls at 2" to 2 1/2" of rain PER HOUR for nearly 3 hours and then 1/2" plus per hour clear through late afternoon. Peoples basements completely flooded with several feet of water. Major highways and road ways had to be closed for 24+ hours because they were completely flooded over. I particularly feel for the farmers, the beans and corn were all just starting to come up nicely, Thursday all but the highest of fields were submerged in standing water. They are just now beginning to dry up.

It was pushing 90 yesterday here in seattle. And will probably be in the mid 90's today. Humidity close to 55%.

Welcome to Chicago IL; only add about 10 to 15% more to your humidity numbers to be true Chicago weather in the summer.

I don't know how you folks can take that humidity stuff, I survived 19 months in Viet Nam, I don't know what was worse the unbearable heat/humidity or what was trying to shoot us. Sometimes it was so hot and humid the thought of running into THEIR CAMP to get it over with, with FAR LESS agony came to mind.

We just got back from the west coast where it was 100+ every day we were there. Never had a sweat going like I do here today where it is 82 and 70% humidity.

Oh, and just for kicks, we just had a quick rain fall and now the sun is out again. Welcome back to western PA.

/// Oh SCREW THAT!!!!! im going to go jump in the creek and turn BLUE These posts made me sweat just reading them

Apparently we've had 10"+ of rain since we left. Our fields are like walking on a wet sponge.

This sounds like the MUD SEASON that we are experiencing right now. When the snow melts and the rain comes and goes just about everyday for the next month a guy can grow in height just walking from the house to the barn in 6 in increments. Look like those fashion models with them big think sole shoes, have to watch the noggin when entering doors you'll knock your self out. Can take the snow and the rest of the year but the mud season sucks

It rained all day here and expecting more tomorow. This is not our usual late afternoon rain/thunder storms (when I moved here in 76 it woud rain for 30 minutes to 45 minutes at 3:00 then the sun would come and dry it all up. But last 8 to 10 years we get nasty thunder storms. )

Beginning of June we 4 to 6 inches under our water table by the second week we caught up.
