1100 Mile Trip with the new 5ER and a Ford in tow, Kinda Funny!

5th Wheel Refrig. on or off

They have been rebuilding the road from Cody to the East entrance including Sylvan Pass for the last few years. A far as I am aware it has been completed by now. No problem on pulling your 5W as long as you are comfortable driving the typical mountain road. Remember at that altitude (Sylvan Pass 8541 ft) there is only a 3-4 month window to do road work and you guessed it that is when the roads are full of tourists, they only work from about 10PM to 6AM and they CLOSE the road during work hours.

I appreciate the comments gentlemen when we go we enter the North entrance, its mainly because my wife and I have never been in the East and West entrances. When we go there in July (pretty much the whole month) we are meeting with some others coming from different parts of the country to enjoy Yellowstone as a group from a Forum that we all belong to and they weren't sure of the roads. So I made copy's of your thoughts about the roads and sent them all to the group, they can make their own choice.

Thanks again

If you have extra time while in Yellowstone N. P. , heading out the East Gate about 56 miles will take you to Cody, WY. where they have the Buffalo Bill Museum. It is fantastic!!!! Your ticket is around $15. 00 but, gives you two days access &, you definitely NEED the two days to see it all. There is a Walmart a little to the West of the museum & their camping fees are very generous (FREE) & they are RV Friendly. I had a great time there. Well worth the trip.

If any of you are headed into Jackson Hole & on up to the park, there is a little town on Hwy. 89/191 (headed into the Jackson Hole from the south) & on the west side of the road is a small RV Park (don't remember the name but, there aren't that many parks in town) & the prices were far better than in Jackson. Everything is "gold plated" in Jackson. And, the town of Hoback Junction is not far from Jackson. I think I paid around $20. 00/ night & it was around $50 to $70 in Jackson. Boy, do I sound like a "cheapskate"!!! There is a diesel station right across the street from the small RV Park. A guy filling up his Ford told me about the park.
That whole area of WY. is stunningly beautiful. Sure do love that area of the country. Never get tired of seeing it. Been there a few times.

Thanks for the info we have people coming in from all points to the park, we are thinking of spending a few days in Grand Teton before heading back home. Cheapskate or not 30 or 40 bucks is 30 or 40 bucks Pard!!! A man could blow the foam off one or two Dozen at them prices. We leave Thursday, it cant come soon enough for me.

Hey guys, just did West ent (2nd week of June) in the park and East out, stayed at fishing bridge. Towing a 35'TT, I was very happy w/ the east ent, new road or very good pavement and little to NO TRAFFIC as for tight, guess it used up my mountain driving in Rainier nat park going through Chinook pass

A trip to Yellowstone in mid June is still in the thinking stage, which depends on many factors. If we do go to Yellowstone, we will for sure go to Glacier NP and maybe Banff. I'll send you an e-mail to explain our options.

Griz,
Just did Glacier to Yellowstone, up the west side of flathead down the east, wonderful drive on the east side, 2 lane, few cars, make sure you are full going south, I filled up when we left the park and made it to I90 by 38 miles!!! Tested my range, past a station w/ 1/3 tank oh there will be another in the next 70 miles right? Needless to say when I did find fuel the DTE was 18! Usually have a 5gal can for such a case, not today, I know better.

The East entrance road from Cody to Fishing Bridge has been completely rebuilt in the last few years, even before that have pulled my 5W (se sig) bothways on that road and didn't have any problems.

Gas on it Gizz there's still time for ya to make it Pard!!!!

I wish we could Pard. Mrs. Grizz just retired, we had to make the trip to Colorado to attend a wedding and we have a few things around here that need our presence. Nothing serious, no health issues. We'll make it next time. We both love Yellowstone, Glacier and Banff. Actually, we love most parts of Wyoming and Montana.
