In the next month or so I'm going to buy 2 new TVs. I know a few of the details that I'm looking for, but honestly don't understand much about the finer points. I'm running them off ATT U-Verse. All that I really do know is that I want HD and flat screen. I'm leaning toward LED, but not 100% determined. I currently have two 32" LED TVs, but lightning just got one and we recently finished a room in our basement where I want to put another one. I'm thinking about a 55-60 for my living room and a 40 plus or minus for the basement room. I don't know if 3D is worth the extra coin and I'm not sure about WiFi either. We are a pretty basic family. I watch sports, wife watches fix-up-the-house shows, kids watch Disney and such. I'm looking for suggestions on both what and where to buy.

3D isn't taking off like they wished it would. ESPN is dropping their 3D channel soon. In my opinion it isn't worth the extra money however the 240 Hz refresh rate IS. If you watch racing of any kind the higher refresh rate is worth the price of entry. With the slower refresh rate you get "pixelation" where there is a blurred area around the object the are following on the track. I have a 120 Hz that does this, my 240 doesn't.

I'd go with the LED. They run cooler and are the most energy efficient. Stay away from the Plasma (my opinion). They run hotter and use a lot more energy.

Last, go to a place like Best Buy, Wally Mart, Sears or any other store that has a wall of screens to look at. Walk along the wall and pay attention to viewing angles. Not just left and right but also up and down. Also look at the picture quality. Then pick the one that looks good to you. Get the model number and then check the prices on the internet. Just enter the model number in your search engine and it'll bring up reviews and prices. Then you can return to the store armed with the information to make an intelligent choice.

I think the new Ram makes a pretty nice TV.

TV does mean Tow Vehicle right? Comfortable seat, climate control, panavision wide view screen, sound system. got it all.

TGIF!

HERE is a good article comparing LED to plasma. I have a 60" plasma in the den specifically purchased for the resolution, brightness and wide viewing angle. LED's are nice for hanging on the wall, especially in RVs, because of their light weight, so each has advantages and disadvantages.

I will be putting the large on on the mantle over the fire place in the living room. We have a large rock wall / fire place sort of like you'd see in a Cracker Barrel. The smaller TV will be going on the wall in the living room we built in the basement. I was previously looking at a 58" 120hz 2D LED at WalMart. I didn't realize 3D was only useful with dedicated 3D channels sort of like HD. So what is the minimum resolution I should be looking for? That's a really good suggestion about comparing them in-store. We have already done some of that, but I didn't specifically look at viewing angles. Thanks for all the advice and info.

Well with that large of a tv it will be 1080P , watch buying from box stores as they are built with less HDMI connections and sometimes last years models. That goes for Costco too. I am partial to Samsung . The LED back light also brings up the contrast ratio closer to Plasma. They all come with WIFI today . Plasma is better at looking from radical angles as it is looking out a window and they are more efficient today . It may come with 3d but you don't have to use it . Good luck
