Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Thoughts on this rifle.

Its getting to be that time of year again. Nephew took in the last of the season fly fishing People for a week of swatting at fly's in the air, who cares they pay good money for the horse ride and camp to swat at them. This morning his group of people and 4 other pack strings were at our house to load up the clients and head for the hills. As always there is a breakfast for everyone to start the trip off right. At the breakfast table the other Packers (also saloon Pards) got to talking about who was the best and the fastest and on and on, what type of tie was the best, you know the kind of breakfast!!! loaded with lots of Carbs, high cholesterol and testosterone!!!! Some of these guys make football players that bang their head into walls look sane!!!

Jason my Nephew and I were at the table with several family members that were going on a long ride today to get their butts in shape for the up-coming ride and hunting season. The others were taking bet's on the tie and speed of the packing of the animals, one said BIG you haven't said anything Jason and you want in on any of this?

Nope don't want to take your money its just not right taking money from beginners like that. :-laf They kept on us and Jason said you want yur A** whooped that bad then up the stakes, make it a hundered for each team winner takes all, no sloppy ties, and uncle BIG and I will tie 2 more animals than the rest of you, those extra 2 animals will cost ya another hundred each from each team. FIL, BIL, (both of them) ex boss, and our retired Pastor (Lord forgive me for gambling but this is not gambling :-laf its a sure thing) Asked if they could get in on the slaughter? Sure but we don't like taking money from the Pastor its just not right!! Bob the Pastor said don't do me any favors, I will ask for forgiveness IF!!! we loose. :-laf

The breakfast went on and the fishing clients were getting MORE THAN WHAT THEY PAID FOR, They started betting for their packer team going to whoop the other teams. Lots of money on the table. ;) More trash talk from the Packers, Im sure that you've been to something like this maybe in other things.

Got the animals lined up and gear out on the ground, Someone say go!!!! Someone did it was pretty fun for most, Jason and I have done this for a LONG time, He and I started running the Pack string when he was about 9 and he's 29 now, we've tied a string a FEW TIMES ;) during the hunting season. Jason and I don't say to much, we normally do this when we are pretty beat up and don't have much to say a few grunts and ok's and that's about all, he knows his side of the animal and what rope is coming his way and when, if not the old manila rope will leave one hell of a burn on the side of a neck, face when it gets pulled taught from the other side. We were pretty close for the first 3 or 4 animals then a hand gets a little tired or careless and ties are missed, rope crosses missed and slipped off the ends of the manties or Panniers. Each team had 8 animals to tie, Jason and I had 10!! to win. Time went on and Jason and I were smiling across the sawbuck packsaddles, when we heard the other teams start saying Crap, and lots of other expletives that TDR wont let me put in print it offends some. :-laf that's when we went into OVERDRIVE, 1 team just quit and said that they wanted to WATCH HOW ITS DONE!!!! we got to our last animal and the other teams left still had 2 to tie, Jason said Uncle BIG you look like you could use a coffee break!! so we walked over to the breakfast table and took a drink or two and went back and tied the last manites DONE!!!!! Oo.

Jason went a picked up his winnings and counted it, said JUST LIKE TAKING CANDY FROM BABY GIRLS!!!! :-laf

This is Jason's first full year as an outfitter and it looks like he has made a believer out of the most important folks, the other outfitter/packers that HE IS FOR SURE AN OUTFITTER !!!!!!

He came over at the table when we were having a cup of coffee before we hit the trail and tried to give me my half. Gave him a hug and slap on the back, told him to take a bath HE smells almost as bad as me. I thought it was you uncle BIG, keep it and buy a tired old wrangler a beer sometime. ;) He's a good young man that has always listened and used it, Im Proud to call him my Pard!!

Just thought that some of you guy's would like this, it was fun and a good time that sometimes, I think people have forgot how to have.

Glad you have a tight family.

Now I remember, haven't got to do anything with the 4BT yet with all the construction things that HAD to be done, my toys can wait I guess. Wayne my Ex boss said basically the same thing about my leg problems, I have never been one since it happen to let it stop me from doing what I want or Can. It may be a weird way of looking at what happened, but I assume that someone took aim at me in order to blow my leg off, by giving in and crying about it and getting old faster than what iam, means HE WON!!!!! I wouldn't give the SOB that satisfaction. ;)

Dont think I want to go Rhino hunting!!!!!!! shot a 600 Nitro Express ONE TIME!!!!!!! that was MORE THAN ENOUGH, I thought that I had broke my frigging shoulder.

Mr. Cuninghame was one bad mama jamma for sure

I read a book about him once he lived quite the life to say the least. It was nothing for him to travel hundreds of miles through Africa with nothing more than what his pack mule could carry. It was thought that he may have contracted Malaria as many as 4 different times mainly due to his lifestyle of living off the land. I think after the 1st or maybe 2nd round of blowing my guts out (I am a bit of a slow learner :-laf) I would have insisted on a change in pace... . :D

I read books on the mountain men guys like Hugh Glass that was half eaten by a Grizz left to die and crawled back to civilization and lived!!!! Jim Bridger, James Baker,Jim Beckwourth those were some tough folks back then, I have some books and maps of some of the trails that mountain men used in our area I have found them ONLY BY MAP AND COMPASS because no SANE person would dare travel them like they did.
