I have a 2002 with the fuel pump in the tank. What is the correct PSI for the out put of the pump. If I hot wire the pump I am getting about 8 PSI. Is there some place that the information is located, maybe one of the back issues of TDI mag? The engine quit running and I am not getting any PSI at the inlet side of the injection pump. If I hot wire the fuel pump I can get the 8PSI but not getting anything out of the injector with the nuts backed off but a pretty good squirt out of #6 the rest are dry. Any idea's out there.

Vp motors need 8 to 16 running. Of course that means 8 at WOT. More than 16 is not advised.
If you are getting fuel only at no. 6, it may indicated the shaft seized and broke. This is with it cranking right?

I think the official test is flow, not pressure. When you're starting, the lift pump runs for a few seconds and then shuts off (this has something to do with hard starting if the inlet pressure is too high). When the key goes back to ON (from START) the LP runs for 15 seconds or continuously if the engine is running (based on a signal from the crank/cam position sensor). If you bump the starter then you should hear the LP running. With the Mopar in-tank kit there's an inline fuse in the wiring harness.

If you have a vp related issue you most likely have a CEL. Pull your codes up and post your findings, this will help get the diagnosis pointed in the right direction.
