TLong, I forgot to mention... With all the gitup and go these new ones have, the temptation to "go around " or pass the less then speed limit folks is almost hard not to do. .Especially those little snotty kids with their " fast and furious" little vacuum cleaner sounding zip zip cars, buzzing around like they have 'uncontrollable horses" under the hood... LOL
What were you getting on your 03? 18-20 is pretty darn good for a new motor.
On my '03 I was getting about 17-18 mpg untuned, but with the Banks Six Gun at level 4 I was getting 21-22 mpg+. I agree that 18-20 mpg is good for a new engine. If this one does like the 5. 9L's did, I should expect to see an increase after about 5K - 10K miles.
Did you hand calc the Banks numbers?
DEF does have a shelf life which gets short in heat, so don't stock up on it.
No, it was per the on-board computer.
Tim, great looking truck. With going to the 285 size tire, do you get any rub or even close to it? I have a truck coming and planning on changing the stock tires and am considering going up one size. Just do not want any rub issues. Thanks
The mileage is not as good as you think it was then. The 3rd gen's aren't very accurate to begin with, and power adders like the Banks six-gun the accuracy falls off even more. The Six-Gun took the ECM signal and modified it to get the performance. Basicially at all times the ECM thinks you are burning less fuel than you really are.
I hear good things about the 13's EVIC accuracy thou, honestly anything with a 6. 7 is pretty accurate compared to a 3rd gen 5. 9.
I'm leaning on going to 285/70-17 myself most likely Nittos as the rating per tire is 3750lbs. Have you checked with the dealer to see if they can reflash the speedo to a 285/70-17?
per the tire size calc I found, those are only 3. 5 % larger then stock, less then the 4. 5% difference from the 18's the 3500 has.
No, I haven't checked with a dealer yet about a reflash for the TPMS thresholds. Read a lot of complaints about it in other forums though. I will be heading to the dealer this coming week. I will make some inquiries and post what I am able to find out.
Nah... just have the Dealer lower the minimum PSI, the label is on the Door for the minimum setting , the One's (2500) I look at were 50PSI, My 3500s don't require TPMS.
