While towing 11200 lbs going up hill it seem the truck pickup power little by little with the pedal to

the floor. What is wrong or is this the way turbo diesel work. thank you , Ted
 
Probably the ecm program. But could be you were in sixth gear and going up steep hill or long grade. If were not. In tow /haul mode try that or put in fifth gear that is if you have auto, good idea for manual too.
 
Am I reading your post correctly, the truck is gaining power up a hill and you are asking what is wrong?

More information would help. Gear, hill grade, etc.
 
Fill out your signature for other members to know what truck you have, and include your gear ratio, also your tire size if not in stock configuration. It is certain death for your CTD if you lug the engine climbing heavy, unless you can see your EGT. Keep your RPM's between 2200 and 2500 regardless of your gear selection while climbing heavy. More fuel, less air, in a diesel, causes high EGT (exhaust gas temperature) that will melt your aluminum pistons. I recommend installing an EGT sensor, even in stock form, just for that reason, but keeping your RPM's high will help pump cool air with the fuel helping to cool the exhaust.

In theory this is probably good advice, but practically speaking I have never seen a melted piston caused by lugging the engine or high EGT in a stock truck. Every melted piston on a stock truck was caused by injector sticking from debris. And we have tested hundreds, if not thousands of injectors
 
That is the theory, and I have been told by my tech if left stock not to worry, but that only goes if towing at or below Dodges GCVWR. If you tow over that rating then all bets are off.

I have read a thread if you floor 6. 7 the ECM will keep you at a steady pace. It is probably better if you gradually depress the go pedal.

It must be the Torque Management programed into the ECM and TCM. The Alison connected to the Duramax will do the same thing, and it got dangerous when I was passing or needed quick throttle response.

That was my presumption, but not what was said.

More information is needed. Speed, gear, etc... .
