20th May Madness draft schedule

Next TDR rally at CMEP?

Joseph Donnelly

TDR MEMBER
The 20th Annual Turbo Diesel Register (TDR) Western Regional Rally, “May Madness”

The 20th Annual May Madness will be held on April 28--May 4, 2014 in Pahrump, Nevada. We plan to hold most events at Saitta-Trudeau Dodge and at Preferred RV (the host RV Park). We will have the Wednesday evening "pot luck" dinner as in past years, This year on Saturday we will again have a grilled/bar-b-que dinner at the RV Park clubhouse.

The rally will include vendors' participation including technical and product-oriented seminars and the Hall of Gottahavits. " Chrysler warranty personnel will give technical talks question-and-answer sessions, as well as sessions with the DRB-3 and WiTech diagnostic software tools. We will have a "Round-table" discussion of technical issues with the vendors and Chrysler representatives leading the discussion on Friday evening. There will be a Ram Roundup for all attendees on Saturday. Non-diesel related activities will include swimming, craft classes, card games, pool, stained glass, woodworking, exercise room, demonstration of the Sheriff's Department K9 unit, and a golf outing. Self-guided tours will also be available. At May Madness 2013, there was a lot of excitement about the new technical advances in the Ram Turbo Diesels and steps taken to improve fuel mileage and durability. We are fortunate to have experts attend each year from Chrysler discussing features, technical aspects, and warranty considerations. Cummins has also committed to attend, both corporate and Cummins Intermountain (chain of Cummins stores including the one in Las Vegas).

Diesel Specialists of Las Vegas and BD Power will hold a Dyno Day on Thursday with their high inertia, wide roller Dynojet, for attendees of May Madness. Pre-registration for the Dyno Day is being made so Diesel Specialists and BD power can plan their event. Include $30 with your May Madness registration and the dyno pre-registration information and funds will be forwarded to them. BD will give the first forty who pre-register a $30 gift certificate (at the Dyno Day event) good for any BD manufactured product at BD directly; this certificate may also be redeemed at Diesel Specialists for $50 on the Dyno Day, a bonus of $20 from them.

The host RV Park is Preferred RV Resort (800-445-7840; www.preferredrv.com). This RV Park is across the side street from the Pahrump Nugget. They are once again giving us the special rate of $15. 49 including tax. Be sure to tell them you are with “MAY MADNESS. ” Their clubhouse holds 130 people and will be the site for most activities.

Hotel options include the Pahrump Nugget (866-751-6500; www.pahrumpnugget.com) which is conveniently located close to Saitta-Trudeau Dodge and the RV park. Two other choices are the Best Western Hotel and RV Park (775-727-5100), and Saddle West Hotel/Casino/RV Park (800-433-3987, www.saddlewest), both in Pahrump.

Please register for May Madness--2014 early so you and we can plan for a better rally. Note that the registration cost is lower if you are an “early-bird. ” Considerable planning is involved, and early registration assists us in developing the needed support. If you need special, or vendor accommodations, contact Joe Donnelly for arrangements: 505-858-1966 or -- email address removed --

We expect some representation from Cummins and hopefully Ram headquarters as well for MM2014. Please get your registrations in early to help us plan. Here is an incentive--July 2013 postmark will let you take $10 off the cost! Include a paid registration in your envelope from a friend who hasn't come for two years (meaning MM'12 or MM'13) and you both get $10 off. You must reference this post to get the discount. You also get to see what he!! looks like frozen over--people said it would freeze over before I bought a new Ram, lol.

As I noted on another sub-forum, we have 6 confirmed buyers of new 2013-2014 Turbo Diesels so far from the MM group. A seventh posted that he was getting one; have you done so, Ron? So far, all of those six have taken delivery, most with Aisin equipped 3500s. Here is what we got so far:
copper 3500 Aisin 4x4
cherry red 3500 Aisin dually 4x2
silver 3500 Aisin dually 4x4
western brown 3500 (Aisin, right Di?)
white 2500 68RFE
mineral gray 2500 68RFE
white/gold--tell us more, Ron

We want to thank Stan and Stuart for their excellent presentations during MM'13. They gave us solid technical background that justified the purchases. We also want to thank the Cummins people who put on the CMEP rally in June for further information and good reasons to buy!

You are correct Joe, after Stan and Stuart's presentation and the TDR national at CMEP there was no doubt I would have to buy a new one.

Yep-Aisin fer sure!!! Hugs, Di

May Madness 2014

OK here's the latest----We had dinner with Joe tonight and enjoyed a great prime rib dinner. This was of course after we ooh'd & aah'd over each others new RAM'S!!!
Things are well underway for a great 2014 May Madness. I know that Dutch & I thank Nancy, Bob & Joe for their commitment & hard work.
Dutch & I are now officially confirmed {meaning we paid our bill} as attending the 2014 20th annual May Madness. 20 years---I'm sure impressed!!!!
That got me to thinking about a few things:
1. Who all has signed up so far???? It is fun to see who is returning and who is going to be newbie. It also helps the vendors be sure we are bringing enough product, brochures, etc for the slightly revised but ever popular version of the "Hall Of Gotta Haveits". It also is a great help in knowing how many MM tee shirts to order. I'm sure they want to have enough for everyone but on the other hand, there is no need for them to have to pay for more shirts than they will need.
2. Dutch & I are willing to host a fun golf outing complete with prizes soooo is anyone interested??
3. I seem to remember some neat "incentives" at the end of last years banquet to get people to register early and also for getting a friend, buddy or new acquaintance to register now. I believe there was also supposed to be a post on the forum about this. I'm trying to find the links so I can get them posted again. {if anyone knows where they are please either, post them, pm me or e-mail me at -- email address removed --}
Can't wait to see old friends and make new ones in April!!! Hugs, Di

We offered a $20 discount for anyone registering and returning from MM'12 or '13 who sends in the same envelope a paid registration from someone who did not attend either of those years.

We also have a commitment from Cummins to attend. Both a tech person from HQ and Scott Bentz from Cummins Intermountain will attend.

It should be clear to those who read this forum that the talks at May Madness are informative and effective far beyond what is available on the internet, since seven of us have already bought new Rams, and most of those are people who were uninspired to say the least about the 2012 models.

Thanks Joe.
Can attendees still take advantage of this offer? If so, what is the cutoff date for them to send their money in.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Harald from BD make some type of discount offer?

Since it is the 20th MM, I'm going to see if there isn't some offering that Dutch and I can make to thank the attendees for all their support. I don't have a plan yet, but I am working on it. Hugs, Di

Great Joe. Hopefully members will take advantage of the "special" price. I'll try to e-mail Harald to see what he offered as if I remember right, it was also related to early entries so it would be too late to find out at MM. Hugs, Di

Yes, the offer is still good. I don't recall just what Harald said; we can find out at MM!

Woo Hoo! I heard back from Harald at BD. He remembered what he said which was: $50.00 off purchase of 500.00 for a BD product to anyone registering early. PLUS he said he'd sweeten the pot by adding $ 100.00 off any purchase of $1000.00. He asked that I remind everyone that "This will be over and above any other discount customers might win while attending MM",. Way to go Harald!
Soooooo---get those registrations in early and you can save several ways. See you all there. Hugs, Di

Looking forward to my first May Madness with my 2013 Ram. It's number 8 on Joe Donnelly's list. Many thanks to Joe for hours of help in finding the right 2013 Ram for me. He is a Master at working the "not so user friendly" Ram site.
