I think the in frame coating is in theory the same approach, but I am not drilling holes in my truck if I can avoid it. I will pull panels where I can.

I understand what your saying, but the places they are drilling to spray are places your not going to reach without cutting your vehicle apart. I have been doing various DIY rust preventative measures myself every year for the last 10 years or so, and for the little extra that I spent on the KROWN application this year I'm sold. I watched them apply most of it to my truck and is evident they did a superior job coverage wise over what the average guy can do. For me to do the same quality job they did in less than 2 hours time would take me the better part of a weeks worth of evenings. They were all over it like a swarm of ants. I like to do my own work whenever possible but this is one instance I feel is better left to the pro's...just my observations

I understand, if it works and your comfortable with it there's no reason to stop.

I was in a Krown reception area and they had a poster on the wall with the caption: "You could let us drill the holes or you can let them form on their own." Whether you use Ziebert, Oilgard or (fill in the company of your choice), they're all going to drill holes to apply their product. Years ago I brought a new vehicle to Krown for it's initial application. The tech brought me into the shop and showed me where they had to drill holes and whether I was OK with it. He probably thought I was going to freak out or something. I told him to go ahead and don't worry about it. They drilled holes in the door panel, pillars and rockers(which was covered by the sill plates). They will drill only where necessary and all holes are hidden when the doors are closed. Different locations for different vehicles. Some shops will only spray the underside without drilling any holes,if you ask them, but they will not honor their warranty. You have to get the whole treatment to get the warranty and their locked in price.

I can understand not wanting to drill holes in good sheet metal, especially new or classic cars. Personally, I'll put up with the holes (which are filled with plastic plugs) and drive a rust free vehicle. If I had a 60's muscle car, it'd be a different story, but then I definitely wouldn't be driving it in the winter.

As mentioned in earlier posts, Krown is available in aerosol cans if you want to apply it yourself, but it's messy and not really cost effective.

I should have taken some before and after pics. Truck was pretty pitiful looking, not so much on outside but underneath. Sprayed Eastwood on it thru a 1 gallon sprayer and let sit for a few minutes as per instructions. Sprayed off, took everything off with no residue left. Very pleased overall. Got under there and spray bombed the axles and shafts with krylon rust reformer, looks a lot nicer

Maybe try Eastwood's Black rust encapsulator, the silver I used is almost bullet proof, I did buy some black to use on the RV but haven't had the chance to use it yet.
