Help! I can't find the fuse for right turn signals

So, I am overall impressed with my 2013 DRW 385/Aisin. Not perfect, but a major improvement over all other builds, except for fuel mileage. I do have 2 issues that I need help with.

1. This has been since about day 1 (which was August) and now has about 6k on the odometer. I pull up to a stop sign or red light, attempt to take off empty or loaded, I press the go pedal to any position (slightly more than idle or half way down) and the truck doesn't move for about a second. Doesn't sound like much delay, but in high traffic situations making a left hand turn across a 4 lane highway, I have nearly wet my pants a few times. Oncoming traffic thinks your a jerk or just not paying attention! A few of them I am sure were near wetting themselves as well. The Dealer has not heard of this and is not aware of a problem or a fix. After that slight delay U can peel rubber really quick. There is no codes or errors. Both engine and transmission are smooth.

2. This a 4.10/385/aisin. I am about 28K loaded. Here in central PA, we have a lot of turns and bunny hills and turns on straight stretches followed by another straight away.. I have noticed that even in the tow/haul mode that at as little as 1600 rpms and entering a turn the lousy transmission up shifts a gear in the turn. That is stupid. Now i am 28K coming out of a turn and need power and the truck is in to high of a gear. Now one must press the go pedal down to get it to shift down. Yes I know, I can control this with the paddle shift on the column. I bought an auto to not have to constantly be doing that. It would seem to me that the shift point of 1600 is to low and should be adjustable through the software. Any thoughts on this.

If more detail is need, please ask. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jared

Jared,

For problem #1, you can try checking your Uconnect settings in the center console. Under the Safety/Assistance menu item are a bunch of options that can be turned on and off. On of them is the Hill Start Assist, assuming that your truck is equipped with this. By default this is turned on. You can try turning that off. I was experiencing a similar issue with my 2500. I turned that off and it seems to have helped.

For problem #2, TSB-18-018-13 is a PCM reflash. I haven't been able to find a lot of info other than it's for the transmission. Perhaps someone else on here has more info or you could contact the dealer ask what this TSB covers.

The Lag SUX!! I've been complaining about it since I got my '14 3500 w/Aisin. It feels like super bad turbo lag... I hope Ram comes up with something to reduce this lag. This lag and my 8.4 AN unit changing inputs on it's own are the biggest complaints I have....

Every time I read one of these "Lag" threads I try to duplicate it on my truck. Simply put, mine doesn't do that! I've owned various Cummins powered pickups since 1996 so I know what these things feel like. As I've said before, when I step on mine from a stop, it goes. A little pedal or a lot of pedal, no big lag.

My 2014 is the same setup as the OP. DRW, 385/850 Aisin and 4:10's. My date of manufacture was 9/13/2013 (Yeah, Friday the 13th). If yours is earlier it may have different software.

Yes, it does the same thing wether in tow/haul or not. I will get into U connect and look to change the feature above. I am due for a trip to the dealer as I get a "911 phone system without function" or some similar statement that needs to be looked into. So, I will see about flashing and any other updates.

Is it going into AUX mode? If so it is most likely the USB port in the console.

If you have an 8.4 radio there is a new flash that takes care of quite a few minor issues.

Has there been a TSB issued to have them look at the port, or is it still just a star case stating to look at all the connections? I don't want the dealer tearing apart my dash and console, looking for a lose connection, if it's just the media port.

BTW, I'm still a bit confused as to why it would be the port or a connector. The reason I'm confused with this is because attaching a AUX device, USB, or SD card doesn't auto start that input...

Thanks for the info!!!

I would like to know if Jarod or Crabjoe have solved the hesitation from a stop problem. And did anyone determine if TSB 18-018-13 was the solution? I have this problem with my new truck and would like to go to the dealer armed with information for them. The lag is substantial in mine and with just a few hundred miles on it I have not towed yet. I can just imagine how much worse that might be. I also noticed on the EVIC that when it lags, there is no boost shown during those seconds.

Mike

Put the EVIC into speedo mode and see if you are still rolling 4 mph or so. The Aisin may not have downshifted all the way yet, and is in that "dead" spot where it has to do so before you get power.

I sent a private message via email to CThompson (message above dated Jan 19) to ask if he knew what the dealer did re: the Aison trans reflash. No response yet.

Mike

Simply put, I am having this problem with my 13 3500 3.42 SRW Aisin truck. I have turned off the hill start function and recently my dealer did a ECM update.

I find the 'lag' extremely frustrating when crossing busy uncontrolled intersections. I would appreciate and follow up you all might have. I will check into the aforementioned PCM update.

Thanks,

I posted earlier on this thread on the same problem and have not received a reply from the private message or anything on this forum. I also checked with a dealer and nothing was in the system related to the lag. At May Madness, one of the Cummins reps said he was aware of it but had not heard a solution but the factory rep had not heard of it????????? My truck continues to have the issue at over 2K miles and as mentioned before it seems like there is an anchor tied to the rear until I shift out of first gear. Then it takes off like you would expect. To put it another way, I have to give the accelerator pedal about 3/4 throttle off the line to enter traffic, and then after the shift I have to let off to 1/2 or less to keep from over acceleration. On the same roads, etc. with my 2004.5 it is a smooth transition all the way with the same throttle pressure, and no lag. This is really annoying but I am getting a little more used to dealing with it. I just have to wait in high traffic times before making that move into traffic. Sure hope someone comes up with a fix. There are enough of us with the problem that it obviously is not an isolated issue.

Mike

A few people are having luck with this product. A quite a bit of torque management has been put in to the new vehicles, saves tearing apart transmissions. They my have gone a bit to far now.

I would be totally afraid of plugging anything into my truck for fear of losing the warrantee. I to have the lag, but doesn't seem to be always. A few times it down right stumbles, not just hesitates, but stumbles in a "playing chicken" case and scares the turd out of you. I've started driving with a little less "risk" since I can't trust the truck as to if this will be one of those times or not. Otherwise I love everything about the drivability of this truck.

To update: I purchased a BD Throttle 'Fooler' I think is the name... It has helped the issue tremendously. Do you all have any updates?
