I'm trying to troubleshoot no overdrive in a truck I recently bought. I checked with a test light at the plug going into the overdrive solenoid and verified there is power to it. Actually there was power to both large and small wires . I tapped into the small wire and ran it into cab with a toggle switch then to ground. Overdrive still doesn't work. So this indicates the solenoid is bad or overdrive unit is bad? Is there a way to test beyond this or is the next step to replace solenoid to find out what problem is? Where is a good place to get a solenoid and is it a simple install? Thank you

Did you check your throttel sensor on the pump ?, it might be bad ?, im not shure if places like Orielys can test them or not ?

Yes, I worked back to the solenoid and grounded the small wire with a toggle switch in the cab and still no overdrive. I had another 93' which I did the same thing with and drove it like that for many years. I don't know anything about the solenoid replacement though. I'm watching a Utube video now showing how to take the valve body out I guess that needs to be done. It looks straightforward but I'm not sure if I want to mess with it maybe I'll give it a try though.
