The overhead temp readout has a new trick - when I started the truck this AM reading was -40 degrees, well it's a little cold here in south Texas, but not that cold - does any one know the location of the sensor on an 06 Mega cab - - never had a problem with it before, thought if I could warm it up with my hand it would probably straighten out, it's 54 here now.

It's near the leftside headlight mount. It takes about 3-4 minutes for it to reset to the proper temp from a morning start

Sometimes it can take a half day before it straightens out and will read the correct temp when stuck at -40 below.

Are your dome lights not staying on as long as they used to??? If so it may be time for a reboot as danavilla mentions above.

Used to have to reboot mine once a year or so. Now it is stored every winter with the batteries removed so it happens by default.....

You don't have to unhook the batteries either, you can simply disconnect the red wire at the front of the TIPM. 10mm nut holds it on.

How old are your batteries on the truck. That was my first indication that my batteries were going bad had them load test and the driver side was not functioning to specs. Bought two new batteries and cleaned the terminals; everything works great now. Just another thing to think about.

Well the problem seems to have solved it's self. started truck several more times today and never got the -40 temp reading. I'll leave well enough alone lone and see what happens. Thanks for all the answers

What are you saying here? You can disconnect this wire instead of disconnecting batteries to kill power? And what is TIPM? I probably know what tipm is, but can't think of the acrynym.

Unhooking the small wire will kill the power to the cab and electronics. The big cable goes to the starter and does not need to be disconnected if you are trying to reboot the truck or just kill power in the cab.
I have a picture somewhere that I posted on here, I'll see if I can find it using the quirky search feature.
