Well here is list of the tires I have used on my 01 2500 aside from the stock Michelins that came on the truck. Bridgestone Dueler Revos in 285/75/16 they were a fantastic tire for me great highway and snow manners not so great in the mud not terrible but felt I needed more. Apparently they discontinued them then brought them back, the tread is different now and have no experience with the new ones. Bought two sets I liked them a lot got 53 and 58k out them. I then switched to Toyo M55 285/75/16 got about 59k out of them. They were great in everything except noise and price. I couldn't take the noise so I switched to Michelin LT AT II's in 285/75/16 got 59k out of them. They were great on the highway and really good in the snow. Not so much in the mud. One thing I noticed with them right off was that they tended to oversteer in the deep or thick stuff whether snow, loose dirt or mud. I never had a tire before that it did it so much. I just put on new tires to replace the AT II's. I looked at M55's again in 255/85/16 but the price was way too much upwards of $350+ tire while I was willing to put up with the noise I wasn't willing to put up with the price. So I decided on Goodyear Silent Armor in 285/75/16. Apparently that tire is being discontinued and they could not find the size I wanted and they are being replaced with the Wrangler All Terrain Adventure. While I have not used a Goodyear tire in 15 years I thought I would give them a shot. 60k warranty tread is somewhat aggressive and appear to be siped decently will see how deep as they wear. So far they are fairly quiet but literally only have about 30 miles on them so I have no real report on them.

Barry if those Adventurers are anything like the Silent Armors you will not be disapointed. Excellent tire.

I am running Nito Dura Grapplers on the 2007.5 dually. I have about 32000 miles on them and so far they are doing good. I rotate about every 7500 miles. I get them from Discounttireonline.com. They seem to have the best price and then I take them to a local shop and they mount and balance for $7.50 a tire.

Currently have 215/85/16 with 4.10 axle ratios.
What do ya think. Go taller to knock the engine rpm down at highway speeds?
Looking up all these tire recommendations now.
Thanks

My 2002 3500 dually came with LT235/85R-16E tires, but the wheel width and offset may have been changed on the later 2nd generation trucks to allow sufficient room between the rear duals where they bulge out at the bottom while allowing use of the 235s. I would check carefully if you try to upsize your tires. My 1996 3500 dually came with the LT215/85R-16 tires, but there wasn't enough wheel offset to allow use of the 235s without getting too close at the bottom under the pin load of my 5th wheel, as I recall.

Barry, on my 01 stock tire size is 235/85/16. On the straight trucks of that era it was 265/75/16. The tire size was increased when the trucks went to 4 wheel disc brake, two piston calipers. Stock size on previous trucks were 245/75/16 and the size you are running now 215/85/16, this reflected the single piston calipers up front and drum rears. That being said I ran 285s on my old 2500 4x4 4.10 and it helped significantly on the highway, i usually got 16-17 mpg. On the flip side, I replaced hubs prematurely. I am in the same boat as you on my truck now as far as wanting to get highway rpm down, like you said, 60 mph is sweet spot on my truck too, any faster than that and I'm running 2400 rpm and getting bad mileage. There is already a ton of stress on that hub as it is, a bigger tire will only add to that, just something to consider.

I have been happy with Goodyear Duratracs on my dually...25K miles and wearing well.
Next set will likely be the same tires or the new Goodyear Adventurers.
I do like the Toyo M55 too but Les Schwab thinks they're made of gold.

Thanks, I really would like to knock the rpm down for highway, I wonder how much rpm drop I would get going with the 235/85 tires.
So many tires to choose from too.
Gave her some new interstate batteries today! Tires any day now
