Mileage

Anybody get a letter from Patrick Law Firm trying to drum up business over the 2007 - 2011 Dodge truck complaints about Check engine lights, loss of power, poor fuel mileage, running poorly, and EGR and turbo defects. Looks like they are trying to get a class action suit or a lemon law suit going.

Good deal for them, won't help you much.

Exactly! I am no fan of unscrupulous lawyers who file class action suits only to line their own pockets. They know big companies will settle with them for millions of dollars, rather than defend the lawsuit (which would cost them even more), and they know there will never be any penalty against them, no matter what happens. They will collect millions in legal fees, while you will get a voucher for $500 off your next purchase of another brand new Cummins truck.

We need "loser pays" in our legal system. It would discourage 98% of nuisance lawsuits.

I remember this type of class action lawsuit on the 2007.5 and 2008 trucks when the 6.7 was having its teething problems. I can't imagine where they have grounds for a similar suit on the later trucks - mine has thrown one CEL/MIL when the trans has gone into limp mode and wouldn't shift automatically and would only shift manually up to 4th gear when an output speed pickup failed. That's it - the total problems I've had on my 2011 3500.

Not all large companies; Caterpillar will fight tooth and nail against all lawsuits. They are willing to spend the money to fight the lawsuit rather than paying out money to the plaintiff. They want to be known as a company who will fight rather than pay up.

I was involved in several dispositions against lawsuits before retiring from Caterpillar. In fact they have several engineers that are being paid as expert witness just to fight lawsuits.

Since I have own my 08 Ram I have received two of these letters from lawyers looking for claimants to join class action lawsuit against Chrysler. The first one was round filed and the second one was sent back with a note asking if I could sue the law firm that sent out this letter for harassment. I did not hear back from the law firm.

Until we open a season on attorney's and can hunt them like wild pigs, this sheet will continue. EGroeneveld, I can't complain about the mileage of my 2010, it's WAAAAAY better than my 6.7 Ford was. :D

AMEN and AMEN

BTW, getting rid of contingency fee's will also help.

Frankly, I can't even complain too much about the fuel mileage of my 2011. It's about the same as my lightly-bombed 2002 ETH/DEE 3500 (347/762 at the rear wheels, Edge EZ and DDIIs) with 4.10s - 10 towing and 17 at 75 MPH on the Interstate.
