I hate to admit it, but my itch for a new truck is heating up. I'm not ready to purchase quite yet, I want to try and sell my '07 outright first. But I am starting to look a little more serious at the local dealers to see what I like and what I may order or buy off the lot.

I am likely to come home with a 3500 with the Aisin auto, but there are quite a few G56 trucks available locally also that have sparked my interest. Does anyone on here own a '13 or '14 with the G56 that can offer some feedback on drivablility etc? I know that there were some issues during regeneration with some of the members here on some of the earlier 6.7/G56 combos. Just wondering if those still are an issue.

That's what I'm leaning hard toward, but I know I'm going to miss the hand shaker after a while.

73K on the '07 Quad Shorty G56.

Took this pic this morning.

I have always loved rowing my boat, but I think that as I get older (only 50 now lol) I just might appreciate an AT more and more, particularly now that they are MUCH more robust for towing and longevity...so if I was going to spend 60k on a truck, I would make sure that it would take me WELL into the future.

I had the G56 in a 2012. was a fair transmission. But have the RE68 ( I think that's what it's called) It works nicely so far and the extra power they give you with the auto is really nice. With the manual it always seemed to run out of get up and go when you needed it most and would have to shift. The auto just pulls it never seems to be out of breath. But if the price is right I would jump on a truck with the manual, if I was in the market....

He washed it to many times and it SHRUNK.
He has one of those cameras that takes size, away, and removes weight off of you, or it.

There's a 3500 Crew Cab SRW 8' G56 with the "Blacktop" package on it at a dealer ~20 miles from here. It reminds me of our 04.5 Sport with the addition of the black 20" wheels. Absolutely optioned exactly the way I would want it except for the trans. I've had no major issues in the 7 years I've had this current G56, but the autos seem to be the ticket now.

LOL...I agree. When I bought that one in May of 2007, it was the only 5.9L truck left anywhere. I thought I would like the short bed, and do as far as parking is concerned, but I'm missing the long bed at this point.

Get the Aisin.

I'm one of the members here that have the surge when in regen. I seem to be the only one complaining about it, so it seems. I had the ECM re-flashed back in 09 when the issue showed up, I never had any complaints until then. I've been leaning toward the ECM was damaged during the re-flashing, but I don't want to pay the price to find out. The G56 is a good transmission, if you gear the truck right, and don't speed shift, sled pull drag race or go over the Dodges GCVWR. Also keep in mind the DMF will fail and a solid mass flywheel conversion should replace that DMF.

This comes from someone that believes in manuals, and back in 07, I chose the wrong transmission that were available for the new C&C line before the DMF failures were known about and the Aisin (a Japanese transmission) turned out to be able to handle the CTD torque output. I have never read any post on any Aisin failures and now that the higher torque has increased for the Aisin's newer version, I doubt that you will.

I used a standard 5 or 6 speed for 17 years, and some years before that, with gassers. It took about 5 minutes to get used to the Aisin, and prefer it to the G56. If it had an iron case, and power rating was close, it might have been a different story for me.
