My first under hood fuel filter and frame fuel filter change was near 15K the first time, and that was before the EVIC filter minder said change it.

Now I'm at 22K miles and the EVIC fuel filter minder is going to have me change it at about 10K based on the % left. what is telling the EVIC to change fuel filters? Fuel pressure or????

I always use diesel from high volume stations, Pilot, sams club, Valero etc. I wonder what would cause a 5K less change interval? I have a cap over the tank filler hole to prevent dirt getting into fuel tank...

If it is a pressure sensor(ie less pressure filter dirty etc) that triggers the filter sensor, is there one between the frame filter and engine filter or just engine filter?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Curious about this myself. I just changed my nanonet at 7k miles. EVIC said I had 25% left but it was a rainy weekend so I just decided to do it. I did have one episode of fuel gelling on this truck. I wonder if that affected it? The filter looked visibly clean to me and not dark or discolored compared to the new one I put in.

Are you going to change the under bed fuel water separating filter at the same time? I was thinking a 15k change interval on that one would not be unreasonable.

Such research as I have been able to perform suggests that the newer software flash will fix the early filter change indicator on EVIC, and there is no pressure or other sensor telling EVIC when the change is needed. Both filters should be changed at 15,000 mile intervals, and then the EVIC screen is reset with the arrow key.

Joe. I crawled under my truck and noticed one filter near the fuel tank. Or at least I believe it's a filter. Where is the other one located?

My evic said to change at 7500 miles. So I changed both filters. 6400 miles since change evic says 31%. Maybe I'll make 10k this time.

Left side of the engine above the starter motor.
