Where Can You Go to Get Even Simple Work Done

Weather stations for the home.

Do your homework. Some engine and prop combinations on Bird Dogs can be very hard to get parts for. I would be extra careful about anything that was on floats. Bird Dogs are stout, but they corrode like any other plane.

Im pretty sure it would be way more expensive to fly yourself. But it would be a heck of a lot more fun.
Im sure the fun factor would be WAY OUT OF CONTROL BETTER. I would have to consider time in this also, I don't think that any thing that we could afford would fly as fast as Commercial

No floats just skis in the winter on both ends Babb and Seeley

Nope, flying youself will take a lot longer. I wouldnt expect to buy anything with any speed. But, once again, much more fun.

Bn, Tractor makes a very good point, “But it would be a heck of a lot more fun,” and you have a valid point, eg; return on investment. Owning an aircraft and properly maintaining it is a costly adventure. Unfortunately, many people get the bug to fly and buy an aircraft only to let it set at some airfield and rust away. The only way you are going to know if this is what you want to do, is to do it. You will know early on if flying is for you and eventually decide if aircraft ownership is for you.
To me, there is no place I am happier than in the air, whether it be on a demanding, [past tense] CAT III approach to an unfamiliar airport, screaming earthward at Mach +1, or lazing around the clouds in the Citabria. Take the step and give it a try, you may be surprised.

Keep in mind, I am biased.

BoeingDiesel is absolutely correct. First just take a few flying lessons to see if it even interests you at all. If it does, take a few more. You dont have to commit yourself to anything. If you continue to like it, go on to get your private ticket. Then, just spend maybe a year or even more and see how much time you actually spend flying. You will find there is a lot of classroom time besides flying time. If you still think that buying a plane is for you and you have the time and money to invest, go for it. But I know a lot of people who own some pretty nice boats that are always tied up at the dock.

That's what I did about 50 years ago. I took several flying lessons to see if I liked it which I did, but other interests took precedence and I never followed through as far as getting my ticket. Do I regret it? No, not at all. My time spent with the flying lessons helped give me a better understanding of flying when traveling hundreds of thousands of miles on commercial airlines in my work.

Im still going to get a ticket our Nephew is getting his now and a plane to do what we had planned to do until his arrival and need of a position, I will still get one for the *JUST IN CASE* who knows what might transpire and SOMEBODY would have to fly it. The other reason is for pleasure and quite possibly some work, NOT THE PHYSICAL type work but some sales of a product that the family is involved in. When in Calif, last month I made several calls on the Indian (I call them Bingo parlors) casino's I got several of them to try my FIL's and Sons beef just as a trail offer they were sent some of the product, they are now customers. The Cattlemen that are also involved in this operation were contacted by some restaurants in San Francisco and have become customers. They were talking about sending me around and making contacts for the sale of their beef. One said that I could sell screen doors to a submarine manufacture (I thought it was funny anyway) I was just wondering if it would be a option, I kind of new that it wouldn't be as cheap, or the time involved. I really don't want to spend any more time away from home than I would have to. As was said by one above His time in the air is his escape or time to get away. something to that effect anyway, Mine is here at home!!! I don't need to make a living any longer but I would like to help out our Son as he is the one that is eventually going to take control of our family's end of the business.
