All the joys of buying off the lot, you almost get what you want.

It was a hard enough fight to get the dealership to install the OEM trailer brake controller, but I spaced out the Auxiliary switches (bank of 4 switches in the bottom row under the traction control and tow/haul switch). A $130 option from the factory, so I presume that everything else is there I just need the switch bank and pigtail....and figure out how to take the dash bezel off to get to it.

If someone works in parts or knows what the part number is for a 2014 version, I would appreciate it of they could post it.

I've tried local dealerships and their eyes glaze over when I ask about it, and online only gives a basic part drawing of the IP switches and about 25 different part numbers with the same description for the location it gets installed.

TIA

Sticks,

I was looking at this the other day... possibly in the factory service manual on CD... and I think it's a lot more complicated than just installing the switch bank.

I'll do some research when I get time and report back.

More digging looks like I'll have to get the aux PDC (a whopping $35), switch bank, pigtails, relays and fuses. Parts cost online should land somewhere in the $170s

This is all the compatible part numbers (I think - order code is LHL, might be wrong in that.) with the same description - Switch - Instrument Panel no image.

56054520AA
56054533AA
56054534AA
56054535AA
56054536AA
56054537AA
56054539AA
56054541AA

What I don't want to do is start cutting holes in the dash.

No I really don't.

I have no idea what part number in that list is the actual switch bank. I can figure out the rest of the needed parts from that, if I don't just put the switches in and DIY the rest with my own PDC.

I've heard that you couldn't retrofit the switch panel. The main problem is for those that have heated seats and steering wheel since the switch bank would replace those switches. If you don't have those accessories, then you're probably all good in that regard. I believe there would be some re-programming of the BCM as well to let the computer know what type of switch bank is on the truck. Those switches are merely CANbus switches, they don't flow any real voltage errr... current through them.

Well, if it's plug and play, all the better. Might be why it's such an inexpensive factory option. Just the Aux PDC is all I'll need. My truck is a base model Tradesman so all I have is the anti skid and tow haul mode in the double row where the switches mount, and U-connect 5.0.

Sticks,

I'm working on trying to figure out the correct part number.

Please list exactly what switches you have in the bank now. Do you only have the Tow Haul and Traction Control?

Maybe you can post a picture?

Thanks,

John L.

Yup. That's all John. Those are the only two in the whole panel. I know the aux switch bank is a set of 4 and goes in the bottom row all the way to the right.

Rambodybuilder.com has a PDF link to how to deal with it (getting them turned on at the aux PDC) but I could not load the file yesterday. It's bad enough I have to figure out how to get the power port in the dash constant hot. I have no way to charge my phone or anything else unless the key is on. The only constant hot plug is an option that comes with the Laramie package (the one behind the center console).

Look in your manual. you can make one of the power outlets constant on by moving a fuse in the fuse box int he engine compartment. I think its #90... the position has 3 slotsfor the fuse legs, if the fuse is installed in slots 1 and 2 its ots on with ignition, if the fuse is moved to slots 2 & 3 its always on.

And people knock those RAM engineers!!! Someone was thinking ahead!!!! Chris

Sticks,

So far all I've been able to figure out is that according to the 2013 and 2014 Ram sales brochures, auxiliary IP switches aren't available with either:

1. Comfort Group option (which includes heated cloth seats and heated leather steering wheel; also includes remote start, and leather-wrapped steering wheel)
2. Uconnect 3.0 radio
3. Uconnect 5.0 radio

Since you have a Uconnect 5.0 radio, this suggests the wiring in your truck may not be configured to handle auxiliary switches, even if you could figure out which switch bank you'd need.

In examining available switch banks in the parts lists, I can't find one that has the exact combination of sales codes you'd need. Maybe it's because it doesn't exist the way your truck is configured?

The manual also states that it powers the outlet in the bottom/back of the center console - different trim option. I don't have a power outlet back there.

I'll double check my fuse panel, but I am pretty sure that my I/P outlets are a different fuse number and not possible to have a factory constant power.

My 14 3500 came with Uconnect 5.0 and Auxiliary switches.

Almost did a double reply to this for John.

I saw many a tradesman trim with the Aux switches, Uconnect 5.0 ect. SHORT BED grrrrrrrrrrr. Otherwise I would have gone that route.

Unless someone has pulled the center dash apart and can tell me what is back there, I am going to have to get in there and see. I know 2013s had to have a control module to run the switches. Different dash. The 14's are a new dash design and not a whole lot of info on them yet.

Here is the link to the Ram Body builder that talks about the switches and the aux PDC http://www.rambodybuilder.com/2014/docs/ram/ramaux.pdf It does not open the file in Firefox, or at least mine, but does in IE.

Note that the picture that they show and talk about is 5 switches, and the ones that I saw were only 4, and they were rocker switches, not push button. If DJAustin could post a picture of his, that would be awesome.

I dont have the console either, my always on outlet is in the center seat storage compartment.

Yeah, I checked mind yesterday, so now I have one inside the console that is now constant power (found and moved the fuse). Would prefer the I/P panel, but it's better than nothing. Bad info in the manual.

So...

Back to the aux switches.

Any solution to this? I'd love to install the aux switch bank as well. I'd need to keep my jake brake and trac control on top. 14 srw 3500 4x4 diesel.
