2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Bad u joint?

Hi, I think I might have a u joint going bad. I have never had a u joint failure in my dodge/cummins ownership history, just hub bearings, tie rods and two balljoints. It's making a clicking noise coming from the drivers side, and my steering is getting kinda sloppy, have it dialed in nicely otherwise. How do I determine it's a u joint and does the knuckle need to come off? It's not a hub bearing there is no play and I've put 500 miles on it since I started hearing the clicking, just getting progressively worse.

Shift your transfercase in 4x4, then jack up the wheel and rock in back and forth. If it is bad you will see/hear it.
