Anybody else run into a bad bluetooth connection with the 5.0 Uconnect system?

I have two different phones, one Casio, the other is a Motorola and both have the same problem. Unless the phone is placed under the dash on the center console, I get a lot of static, and the person on the other end of the call only hears 4 out of 5 words spoken (even with the phone under the dash, just no static).

I've checked the Uconnect website and according to my VIN, there are no updates or flashes available.

Suggestions? I'm 3k miles from my first service, and may have to wait until then to give up my truck for a couple days to have the dealer look at it.

I'm not experiencing anything like this with either an iPhone 5 or a cheap LG flip phone. Both seem reasonably free of interference and static. I usually have the phones laying somewhere on the center console or armrest... never on top of the dash.

What are the specific models of phone you have? I use a Galaxy Note 3 and have no issues with blue tooth. It maybe that an older version of bluetooth on your phones could be causing the issue. My Galaxy S 2 had issues with my truck and kept dropping blue tooth. It was due to the old bluetooth standard. My new phone is bluetooth 3.0. Also forgot to note I have uconnect 5.0 as well.

My cell phone is a 3-4 year old android phone(htc incredible2), so far it has worked flawlessly with the bluetooth on the 8.4 nav unit. This is with the phone on my hip.

Casio Gzone and Motorola Droid 4.

One would think that if a simple ear piece bluetooth can get 30-50 feet of range from the phone with no interference, a freakin' radio unit would be able to handle the 2 feet to my shirt pocket.

This may or may not be related....BUT worth a mention.

I am going to change out the On Star module on Hoopty so that I can have Bluetooth and steering wheel control of the phone. All I have to do is get the module from a 2010 or newer Impala to do this.
BUT there is an antenna for the Bluetooth that has to be on that module...

Is it possible that the antenna for yours is either missing or defective...(assuming that RAM uses one, it would make sense to me that they would)...

Just a thought.

Mike.

That was my thinking as well, along with maybe a firmware issue. Looks like I pop the dash off again to see what I can see.
