2014 Block Heater Cord

[Too Tall]

I want to add a block heater cord to my new 2014 Laramie. Did some research and found the 2014 cord (Part #68223419AA) cost over $150. The 2013 cords are about $40 and very plentiful. The 2014 have to be ordered. I'm talking Mopar OEM not aftermarket. They look almost identical other than some gromet and push pin locations but the rest seems the same.

So I'm tempted to get the 2013, remove the push pins etc.. and routing it myself with tie wraps to get it away from the heat.

Does anyone see a problem with this idea? Could the block heater be different? Your thoughts?

I don't see why a 13' cord is different than the 14', but try Geno's Garage.

The Fleetgaurd heater cables will fit 89 to 14 trucks. They list for about 16 bucks.

Yes, Geno's thanks. I prefer the OEM if possible because it comes straight out as opposed to having an elbow. Seems the straight out would be less susceptible to the heat of the block. But I'm anal.

Fleetguard, I'll look into that. I didn't realize they made one Should be pretty good quality.

They are what Genos sells.

Fleetguard is Cummins, so I'm not sure what the difference would be between that and what your looking at?

I personally bought one years ago for my former 00 and it's still holding up well. (I sold the truck to a friend and see it fequently)

I bought my 13 off the lot and it had the cold weather group for $90. If I had ordered it, I would have gone to Geno's for the cord and the naugahyde grille cover and saved a lot of bucks.

I had to replace the factory original block heater cord on my '06 after a couple of years. The Dodge replacement was well over $100. Buying from the Cummins parts place was less than $20. The only difference between them was that the factory one had all the fancy clips, etc. I routed it following the original and used a bunch of zip ties. Has worked great for 6 years and I sure didn't use $80 worth of zip ties!

Sure could use a block COOLER out here in the normally mild West! If Geno's had one, whatever, I'd buy it! Sure appreciate having them as a source.

Get the Gino's kit with the bumper mounted socket, it looks great and beats a cord hanging free
