If the rattles form engine compartment on decel ,its most likely High rail pressure, Do you have rail gage? if this is the cause you need to take Immediate Action to resolve.

With truck now at stock level, what would be causing high rail pressure, bad fuel control actuator? I had someone say the noise may be the serpentine belt idler pulley going bad. Truck has 165000 miles and has had various performance products hooked up to it for the last 100000. Has always run flawless. This one is stumping me.

Rattle

I know this is a very old thread but did you ever solve the problem? I have the exact same issue and it is driving me crazy.

Like timelessconstructionllc said, check the front u joints. I had a rattle that was more noticeable while decelerating. I had both front u joints replaced at 115,000 miles. That took care of the problem.

I have the same problem, only does it for a few seconds, not very loud. For those who can date themselves by this description: It sounds like a very low volume rattle like a bad heat riser valve (part of exhaust system) makes on early model General motors products (70's ish).........
