yeah it didnt even alarm/message me that I had one down to <20 psi on the rear. Other than being a "lazy mans convenience" the TPMS and TCS could be deleted off any vehicle that I own/drive.

I'm the opposite. The more information I have access to, then the better I feel... even if I don't really need to know it. :)

I enjoy occasionally flipping the EVIC screen over to the tire pressure screen just to verify all the tires are where I expect them to be. But just as the owner's manual states, obviously the truck's built in TPMS shouldn't be used as the primary source for setting and verifying tire pressure. That's a job for an accurate high-quality pressure gauge.

If I could change anything about the factory TMPS on my truck, I'd like the ability to set my own low/high pressure warning thresholds with warnings just like I can on the TST-507 TPMS which I use with our travel trailer.

Best regards,

John L.

Same here John. I removed my TST from the '04 Ram since I'll be selling it. Being able to set high and low pressure warnings and get an alarm is what TPMS is all about. We have them on our fiver as well. I probably won't leave the EVIC on tire pressure and it would have been nice to get a low pressure warning.

Can anyone with a 3500 SRW tell me if the TPMS works the same as the DRW? No Alarms?

Thanks
Dave

All i know is that it will give you a message if the TPMS isnt reading a wheel. but it doesnt seem to alarm for a low pressure, as long as its a valid signal.

That's what happens when you don't bother to read the owner's manual FIRST.

That's true......but I left them as is and will continue to rotate them in the future anyway. The values are not in their appropriate places per the EVIC display....but at least I can still maximize my tire wear. It would be totally silly to rotate the tires on a '14 and up DRW per the manual IMO.

I have been skeptical of the Generals since I bought the truck. But the wheels have been off of it twice and its been "roadforce balanced" and driven home. Im thinking that they should have noticed it if the tire had a slipped belt of tread seperation. When i ran it today with the rear end offr the ground. the tires run pretty true and dont show any signs deformation. The truck has between 1500-1600 miles on it now.

When I bought my 2011 Chrysler T&C I had this issue and had the road force balancing done several times, finally I had enough and demanded the tires be replaced with a different type and wouldn't you know it problem completely gone; Road force balancing means absolutely nothing to me anymore... That and I only am back to buying Michelin tires again I got tired of other brands on the truck being constantly balanced.

If youre not getting satisfacton with your dealer, call Ram's customer service folks and throw a fit. They will take care of you :)

Speaking from experience, rather than throwing a fit I'd suggest you call Customer Care and very politely (but firmly) let them know you're not having a "satisfactory customer experience" and ask for the help of a Chrysler Warranty Rep. in resolving the problem. Get a case number and contact info if you need to follow-up.

Well, it appears to be fixed. Not sure exactly what all was done and not sure I will ever know. But the truck does not vibrate. It has the take-off Nexus tires on it. I can also tell that its running lower air pressures than when I got it back the 1st time and still had the Generals on it. I believe they had tried to air them up as per the service bulletin (almost 90 psi)
Hands down, the General Tires are complete garbage. I think there are some good sets out there, but for the most part, they are junk.
My passenger seat back does NOT vibrate going down the road anymore either!
I am still considering installing the Sulastic spring shackles. Kinda waiting on those who have already purchased them to report back with impressions/opinions.

I would write a letter to Chrysler customer service since you had the truck out of commission for 2 months that you made payments on. Emphasis is that this is your second Chrysler truck and this is not the quality you expect of Chrysler. I had some problems with a grand Cherokee a few years back that was collectively out of use for close to 2 months over the course of 2 years as they tried to fix it it. I ended up getting the two payments back then an extra $5000 to keep me from suing for breach of warranty. I got the extra because they never did fully fixed it but I bet you can get the two payments you made refunded.

Thanks for the phone #, hope I never have to use it. Truck seems to be great now, fixing to go on a 1500 mile trip pulling the 5er...

I work in the service industry with MUCH more expensive toys.... its been my experience that being excessively emotional with the service department never helps. Not saying you will get bad service, but if a guy is taking a butt-Chewing for something he cant control.... hes not going to be as apt to go the extra mile to get your situation resolved. Personally, I would never throw a fit to the dealership simply due to the fact that they did not design the vehicle they are simply the dealership tasked with trying to fix it.
When I found the greasy handprint on the assist handle and the stain on the leather seat that would not clean up, still didnt get mad and un-hinge on them.... the original issue still existed so twisting off would take the focus off the vibration issue and put them into a defensive mode. I simply took pics of the stain and grease and email them to the service manager. When he contacted me, I could tell he was prepared to get yelled at, I simply told him I tried to clean it up and could not get it cleaned up. Told him I leave it up to them to decide on how to repaire it. He was surprised that I wasnt griping...
All that being said, his demeanor changed once he realized I wasnt going to kick cuss and throw rocks and he was back on task and offered to drive 30 miles one way to pick my truck up and took charge of all communications and test driving to ensure it got fixed properly.. Suddenly the truck got fixed beyond my expectations.. the leather seat got replaced, the truck got fully detailed, the DEF and fuel tank got filled, they even offered to deliver the truck back to my house if I wanted..

I totally agree...a good attitude (positive but firm) goes a LOOOOONNNGGGGGG way in helping to resolve issues. The only person I get mad at anymore when they screw up is MYSELF...lol.

Wingate, what did you have done to fix the vibration? I tried to find the post above but no luck. Just saw you said its fine now..?

The tires were replaced with a different brand, NEXUS..
Not sure what else they did, but I can tell ya that the driveline carrier bearing has been unbolted.... although the driveline did not appear to be removed from the rear axle. The truck is absolutely smooth as butter now!!

You're kidding right? All the people that have been trying to figure this out, you've had it resolved, and you're not sure what they did!!! Find out for the rest of us poor slobs! PLEASE!!!

They are probably NEXEN tires made in Korea. Hope they are better than the POS Generals that came on my Dually. They should have installed Michelin's or BFG's IMHO.
