I will comment on the 13 emission, At Present I have 6400 miles on My 1st 13, I just drop the DPF again its perfectly clean a film of soot I blew it out with My blower and finish it off with air, then I removed the intake form the EGR,WOW its clean, the reason I am perform these actions is the Engine will be getting some HP added, an I want to know the before and after effect. Keep in mind MN has 5% mandatory Bio-Diesel and this helps considerably.

I also drop the factory oil , The results were . 05 fuel at 6400 miles everything else look good , it looks like the days of contaminate fuel ,cog filters (DFP) are gone at factory power levels. Mileage is equal to all My prior 5. 9s and way better then the 07. 5 6. 7 I returned when the lease was up.

DEF is completely demand driven, Grocery getting will NOT increase its use. It is mixed at fuel ratios.
 
I appreciate you bringing this up, as I sold my '05 a year or so ago and have a serious case of seller's remorse! I, too, don't tow real often, and seldom super-heavy. Have been studying the 6.4, as well. For me, I do believe the 6.4 gasser is likely the right choice... but I think back to my '04 Chebby with the 8.1 big-block and Ally, and, besides the fact that it was a lemon-law POS, I remember the shyt-eatin' grin I had the first time I towed with the Cummins!!! Man, it is a tough call when you don't tow all the time.
 
I understand the new 6.4 lit Hemi engines require premium unleaded. That is more than diesel here in Texas
I have seen the same info, but have also seen it published with a 87 octane rating... so I guess it depends on which source you read it from as to which fuel it is rated at..
 
I got my info from a person that owns one and lifted it and was complaining about the gas mileage after lifting and requiring premium unleaded to boot. He said he was thinking of getting a diesel

How can you lift a truck, put big tires on it and then complain about MPG?

These are the people that believe dropping rpm increases fuel mileage. Never mind the added unsprung weight, rolling resistance, wind resistance from sitting higher, etc. I hear this complaint alot and it makes me laugh every time.

It made me laugh too. I have owned a jeep that was lifted and it was a brick with lots of wind drag. Still was a fun machine
 
But the computer says less rpm ALWAYS results in les fuel consumption..........:D. And he asked you used a vacuum guage for best economy..........umm whats a vacuum guage?:-laf or how does a carburetor work :) GUess I'm turning into one of those old guys
 
Correct me if I'm wrong cause I usually am, but isn't short trips the biggest culprit to a diesel not the lack of towing something or a heavy load? It's seems the diesel does just fine empty on the highway. Wouldn't lack of load on the engine result in less soot, less egr and less regen as long as the engine stays at temp, doesn't get a lot of idle time? Just asking?
