So, I should be FORCEFUL and demand "DON't DO ANYTHING" or you will not get paid ??

Pretty much. Don't let them take it in the shop and hook it up. The Remote should just be a monitor, I think they have to hook up to a larger computer get the actual flashes. If all you are paying for is diagnosis then updates should be off the table.

just connect the two wires at the drivers side seat belt under the seat,

Short answer, no. Will not defeat it on all trucks. Will not work on out of park alarm safety recall.

The 2 times I had my truck in I personally wrote in big dark letters to not flash the back up recall on the service order that the CSR filled out and had me sign... ... and they didnt

What are the reasons for flashing the ECM other than, the backup recall ? Is there somewhere on the Net to find any/all TSB's/recalls ? Other than going back through all my TDR issues.

Thanks

There may be some adjustments to gauge readings and sensor sensitivity that would make life easier. However, the big problem is trusting the tech to do it right and not load something in there that would be detrimental.

This site has a good list of the relevant ones. http://www.dodgeram.org/

When they do a "FLASH" is the "recall item" automatically done OR, does the Tech have to select that from the DRV menu ?
Doing a flash with the drb era vehicles is rather cumbersome and time consuming. That particular recall consist of up dating 2 modules Each module must be loaded one at a time

That recall does not flash the ecm

My '05 truck still has this recall pending and will as long as I own it; I told the dealer if they ever installed it they bought the truck. So far so good.

Same here. My truck has never seen a dealership since the day I drove it off the lot. This coming Monday I have an appointment with my local dealer only because I am at my wits end about the transmission issue I've been writing about. It will be a drive test with his DRV connected and I am really hoping he will not F' around in there (ECM) and make any changes. I am actually wondering if he CAN do that against my will regardless of the TSB/recall?

Should I even bring it up and tell him not to make any changes without me knowing exactly what he's doing ?
Yes bring it up and specifically refuse to have the E17 recall done! I also put a label next to the OBD connector that had E17 in a red circle with a line through it and text saying not to do it. The other thing you should have done is checked the "The truck has been inspected and found to be OK" box on the E17 recall notice and sent it back to Chrysler.

Back in 2007 I called some dealers and they said it had to be done. I called DCX customer support and they said as an owner we have the right to refuse the recall. You must exercise this right every time you bring the truck in or, as others have found out, they will flash it out of habit. That is why I put the label by the OBD port, so if the word didn't make it from the SA to the mechanic at least the mechanic will see the label and hopefully not do the flash.

maybe one of these will help?

My truck was updated in 06 for this, I have a slight incline on my driveway went to get out, thought I had it in park like I always do! opened door, truck honked as it started rolling this all happened in like 1 second so it does work, more than not I am backing my trailer up open my door with it in gear, take my foot off the brake and it starts honking, just to get a better look. It does work it has saved me from a roll. Fords don't have this, not that I know of, and they have rolled, done allot of damage, had it happen at work, company blames employee like normal pass the buck, but it does says in the book emer brake when parked their liability is ok in court now???
