Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) injector question

I am in the process of replacing a '99 "53" block with a 2000 model. The '99 has a crank sensor. The '00 does not. I have the ecm and wiring harness for the '00 engine.
Can anyone tell me if this will work properly. The only other option is to swap cranks. I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it.

When mine was being done Cummins had the same issue. They finally changed the crank shaft as they said that was the better of the 2 ideas.

But if he has the ecm and wiring harness to go with the engine I don't see why it wouldn't work...
When you swapped motors did you have access to both of those?

I did not. Cummins Southwest did the engine swap. The annoying part was that they had the truck all back together then some codes showed up. That was when they realized something was missing, can you say tone ring. At that time they were talking to the factory about the options and wound up pulling it all apart to install the ring. Wound up being a two week project.
I guess if the ECM is there, the harness is there and all the plugs are the same it may work but I would not bet on it. Since the ECM interfaces with the PCM to drive the tach amongst other things will those items still operate ?. Could be a gamble, I don't know.
