Hi all,

Can anyone recommend the Nitto Dura Grappler tire for 2012 Ram 3500 dually? I have 27,000 miles on mine now, and the fronts are about bald. The rears are still looking good though.

From what l have read on tires , if you tow a fifth wheel it is better to not go with a aggressive tread . The reason being that the tread design is wider causing more movement in the tread resulting in less tire life.

I can't speak to whether they will fit on a Dually, but I had them on my SRW '04 and they were fantastic. They have a high load rating and are VERY quiet and smooth on the highway. They were great with my fifth wheel - about 2,100 total bed weight including both hitch and tongue weight. They are described as "Highway Terrain", not aggressive at all as far as tread patterns go, so no problems compared to a really aggressive (Terra Grappler) style tire. They remind me of the old BFG Sport Truck TA's, but more modern looking. They'll be going on my 2014 as soon as the stock tires wear out!

I have a set of these that I consider my summer set. I haven't used them since last summer on my old truck because I ran the stock generals on the 2014 for this summer which are likely not going back on in the spring due to the level of wear they already have at 28,000 kms. I lost track of the miles that I have on the Dura Grapplers but did use them for two summers already and that would mean about 40,000 km's and they are about 75 % still. I have no complaints about them. They are quiet and also handle heavy, top heavy loads without sidewall squirm issues that I had with Goodyear silent armours that I used a few years prior. They are used on a dually.
