Pullrite Superglide Hitch Failure!!!

Rusty, I called on the new MS 38RSSA at RVs for Less last Saturday. Karen made me a nice offer to trade....it's the same disease that gets us with new trucks!!! Still a little to much $ for me just yet, but someday.... To the OP, I agree with most here, I want the primary seating location to face the TV or at least not be at a right angle to it! My $0.02. Ken Irwin

No Problem!!!

Got that TV thing all figured out....:D

Ken,

I made the mistake of sending a link to a 38RSSA at RVs for Less to my wife and asked her "What do you think about this one?" Next thing you know, I'm setting delivery dates with Ken. Ken, Karen and Butch (health permitting) are great folks to deal with, and their price is about as good as you'll find. Since we were going to Gatlinburg, TN in early May of this year for a wedding, it was a no-brainer (according to my wife) to swap our 2004 MS 36RE3 for the 2014.5 MS 38RSSA in Knoxville as we were passing through Knoxville anyway.

Here's a picture of the rig at the campground in Gatlinburg after we picked it up. Obviously, the site wasn't very level, but people around Gatlinburg tell me that level ground is at a premium there - there's very little of it!! The AutoLevel system was able to handle it.

That is a nice looking rig! And your truck is white too just like mine!!!! Anthing that you didn't get the you wished you did? What hitch are you pulling with?

Maybe a 3rd A/C - it takes awhile to cool it down for the first time in the Texas summers. It eventually gets there, but it takes awhile to cool off the interior volume plus all the furnishings if you're starting off with everything inside the trailer at 95-100 degF. One of the things I probably wouldn't have ordered but I'm glad I have is the CheapHeat system (RVs for Less is a dealer for them and, AFAIK, installs them on all their DRV rigs.) The CheapHeat system adds electric strip heat in the furnace plenum, so I can run the furnace on either electric (for the times electricity isn't metered or is cheaper than propane) or on propane by flipping a switch. It got down to 41 degF there in Gatlinburg, and the CheapHeat system plus the fireplace kept everything nice and toasty.

After consulting with B&W, I upgraded my 18K-rated Companion to the new 20K by changing out the adapter post, base and uprights to the new 3600RVK design. The 5th wheel has a TrailAir airbag-cushioned extended pinbox (vertical cushioning) with the tri-glide loadplate (similar to the Demco GlideRide link design) to provide fore/aft compliance.

So Rusty did you get the Queen bed or King? noticed the queen was optional. I seen a report in TL that the queen was the same, and the tester wondered why it was optional, when the king was standard. I guess more room around it?

I seem to have a death wish today so I present further enhancements to my TV viewing.....

HAHAH!!.. Im actually more of a "stretched out on the sofa" from end to end kinda guy. The spot you have marked as X is for my Boxer as she likes to nap with her daddy.
AGREED on the Y axis.... I usually request that she keep noise to a minimum from her area so that she does not interrupt the Boxers sleep..

The 72" x 80" king is standard; the 60" x 80" queen is optional. Ours has the king. The queen adds nightstands on either side and, as you surmised, provides more room to make the bed.

I wonder about that, I think the queen would give some more room.
One thing that we have both noticed is the lack of electrical outlets and/or little shelfs in the slide out style bedrooms. I will have to work no matter what as long as I am able and an alarm clock close by is a must for my standard 3 whacks of the snooze button. I realize that these are intended for retired folk who have no need of an alarm clock but many upscale units lack this basic feature.
Sometimes the only outlet in that general area is in the walk in closet......

Mike.

Mike,

Ours has an electrical outlet, a light switch and a shelf on each side of the bed. Being that the DRVs are often purchased by "old farts" like us, they set up the bedroom so one could run a CPAP machine on either side.

Rusty

Ahh, that is what I will use for a query. Instead of the funny looks that I get from salesman regarding outlets for alarm clocks I will up the ante by asking about CPAP power.

Nice!!!

Rusty, is it hard to make the bed? My wife is concerned about this very thing with the king bed in the MS. In our current RV the bed room slide is 36" deep and she can't reach all the way to the headboard, so I make the bed most of the time. (Yes I'm admitting that I do women's work.) LOL

Ken,

With the king size bed, it's tight between the slideout walls and the mattress. Making the bed is doable, but not as easy as one at home where one can walk completely around the sides. Sandy can make the bed, but I give her a hand when we're changing the bottom fitted sheet as I need to pull the corners of the mattress up at the head of the bed so she can slip the corner of the fitted sheet over each corner of the mattress.

And, yes, I've been known to make the bed myself.....

Our Jayco Eagle 335RETS has outlets on both sides of the bed along with a shelf on MY side!

Question for you Rusty, any idea why you have a short awning on the front over the door? I've see this awning done both ways on a 38RSSAs; with a short one that ends before the vanity slide and a longer one that has the front mount in front of the vanity slide. Currently the two on RVs for Less have the longer version of this awning. Ken Irwin

Ken,

Because RVs for Less ordered it that way and we bought it from their stock. That's not the way I would have ordered it, but between the door and slideout awnings, there's enough shade to sit under.
