On the 2014 Ram 3500, it looks like the outside temperature sensor is in the driver's side trailer mirror. Ours started to show readings as low as -40C when it was +10C outside. I'll be taking it in to get fixed but I'm wondering if the diesel fuel or DEF tank heaters rely on this reading. Can't find any tech documents showing an outside temperature sensor for the DEF tank.

I would doubt it.....these outside air temp sensors are notoriously inaccurate, regardless of the brand of vehicle.

The air temperature sensors were certainly more accurate when they were previously behind the grille in pre '13 trucks!!!

I think when the truck is parked temps are all over the board. When you are moving and air is flowing over the mirror reasonably accurate temps are displayed.

They have a re-flash for that, Mine wasn't off that much, but at about 0° it was reading about 8° too cold, The flash might have helped a little.
