Diesel Transfer Tank

Looking at buying a diesel transfer tank, (getting tired of filling my diesel equipment with five gallon cans!). Many different companies out there, just wondering what company and material (Steel vs. Aluminum ) to buy. Would like to buy a complete system, tank (about 100 gallons),pump, filter and hose. I bought mine through CL last year. It was around $350 for it with the pump. Took about 2 months get it acid cleaned and then I put bedliner material on the whole thing. I have it set up where the pump cannot be used unless the truck is running or ignition is on and also running through relay. Just saw price for diesel here in town is down to $2.49. Think I might go down and fill tank up. I run two filters off the pump. First one is water separator and 2nd one is fuel filter. Only problem to watch out for is if the tank does not get used enough it will sweat and water will get in fuel. Mine is a 105 gallons and takes up bed space. Glad I have a flatbed trailer to haul stuff with.

Get the aluminum tank. The one I have now came from Northern Hydraulics and is a RDS tank. Tractor Supply has a good selection of tanks/pumps etc. I had a steel tank in the 99 I had previously and it rusted inside really bad. bg

Thanks guy, I've also been looking at Transfer Flow. Apparently, their tanks are also designed and D.O.T.approved to carry unleaded fuel. I'am very interested in their one tank design that is split, one side holds 50 gallons of diesel or unleaded and same with the other side.Expensive, but in the long run it would pay off for us to make one run a week to the local fueling station instead of two.

It is in Scappoose. I believe it would be #2 diesel as Gas stations do not sell off road fuel.

Another vote for an aluminum tank. Steel tanks just don't work out well in the long run.

Aluminum is best but costs a lot more than the aluminized steel that Transfer Flow uses for their tanks if they are not diamond plate aluminum. I have had perfect results with their aluminized steel, and of course with their aluminum. After a bad experience with another brand's regular steel rusting and cracking, going through multiple filters, I will stay with Transfer Flow.

I have seen a few stations in Washington county that have off road diesel. The other thing I see is some stations only post the PUC price on the sign and sometimes PUC is small letters.

If you are looking for a fuel filter for your truck I would go with Cummins stratapore filters through Geno's garage.

can't do any better than an aluminum Transfer Flow - they are the top of the line, and worth it. you won't be sorry. I'm just glad I bought my setup when they were about 1/2 of what they cost now

Nothing wrong with Transfer Flow, other than the price.... Try looking at Northern Tool's selection when you get time. The RDS line has worked well for me, with over a dozen tanks in service for me.....
