I pulled my block heater cord off my previous truck when I traded because that is the second one I have bought. Just went out to instal it because of the cold here. Felt up the engine and there was a cord there. Traced it to the bumper and found the plug. Was I ever surprised. I think I could have installed mine without removing the airbox but it is cold and windy today so I wasn't as enthusiastic as I should have been. Thanks, Ram, for doing the right thing.

Thanks for the info..Guess next time I have mine in the shop I will have to look closer.. Which side is it on?? Passenger???

Passenger side. The heater connector will be just behind the top of the oil filter. If yours has a cord already, the AC plug will be on front of the truck, just to the right (facing the truck) of the passenger side tow hook. It's snapped up in there so look carefully. The plastic holder is connected to the cord and the plug slips into a u shaped plastic wire clip. I didn't see it the first time I looked. I traced the cord and found it the second time. Now that you know where to look, it should be easy to check.

Awwwwe............are you boys needing some block heat action? :D -30 here this am but it's warmed up to +3 this afternoon. Only supposed to be -21 here tonight.

To heck with that. That's cold, Bro. The problem with this new truck is that it takes forever to warm up enough to defrost. My 2011 would be starting to warm up up after a few minutes of high idle and exhaust brake. Not this one. This one is three to five miles before I'm getting noticeable heat. I'm plugging in tonight. 16 degrees with a 20 mph wind. I'm on the grid tonight. Stay warm DFitzwater.

Mr Fitzwater
Have almost been there and done that in northern NY on the ST Lawerence river and up county Maine!! Have seen enough of those minus temps.. Been in South Carolina for 20 years and the old blood has thinned out to where 20 above feels cold. Especially with tonight's wind chill factor.. Not going to worry about getting the Cummins started too early in the AM

3 degrees here now, wind is blowing. Forecast to be -17 below or so by morning. Not as cold as Alaska but nasty none the less........
It is snowing on and off which is not quite so common at these temps.

Have woke up many a morning in Mars Hill ME to have the bank saying -30 to -40.. And we still went out and loaded potatos!!

It was 12 here this morning with a wind chill of 0. That's cold down south. I plugged in last night and checked my coolant temp this morning and it was 87 degrees. It still took a few minutes to get heat out of the vents. This is the coldest RAM I have owned. I may have to break down and put on the winter front. I guess there is a reason they put that in the truck along with the cord. I will get above freezing here today but only for about three hours.

Neither of the vans wanted to start....

Mwilson, Hope you got some long johns. That's cold. Coming in to work this morning with the 0 wind chill, I passed a guy on a motorcycle. 5:30 AM, cold and steady wind and riding a bike. Am I'm complaining about my truck not heating up fast enough. I'm ashamed of myself. :--)

The cold didn't use to bother me, but it does now. Hands suffer the worst even in gloves.

I think from some of the verbage used by the wife this morning while we were boosting vans that she may be reaching the point that I did several years ago....;)
Time to go to a warmer place....

She has been running the '02, the '08 is her work van and she has been off for the last two weeks so it has been parked. We are dog sitting two huge Goldens and she had to drop them at their own house for the day. The '02 would not start no matter what I did. The '08 started after I gave it a boost.

So then she had to empty out the '08 to make room for the Goldens, so step ladders, shop vacs, drop cloths, paint trays, etc.....all had to come out. Not pretty at -22....

She did not use the '02 yesterday, I wish now that I had started it and let it run for a while last night. It would have started this morning had I done that.

For those that live in the cold you already know how bad the static electricity is, for those that don't take my word for just how powerful it is...

Just texted her to make sure that everything worked out, dogs delivered, etc....

She says that static electricity and Golden Retriever dog hair are a bad combo, she looks kinda' like Sasquatch right now......:D:-laf

Jeepers that's cold. Was 41 deg C here Monday. That's about 106 F.
Nice and cool today, only going to be 30 C (89 F). Thinking about a jumper ...
