We had our 2007 broken into last week. We had tint on the windows. When they broke the passenger front window they had to push it in and in doing so gouched the top of the door panel. Insurance is paying to replace it along with the window and tint. However, when the body shop called to order the panel they were told the interior panels for these trucks have been discontinued and aren't available. If it had been available it would have been $783. Crazy! I always was told they were required to keep all parts for 10 years. Seems that is no longer true or Chrysler doesn't care. The body shop is calling in a guy that repairs plastic to see what he can do to make it look good. I have also looked at salvage yards up to 500 miles away and no one has this panel in Khaki. There are a lot of gray ones out there, but no Khaki. Beware that if you have an accident or breakin and interior componets are damaged you may not be able to replace them.

Parts are stocked based on demand. And there is not much demand for a $783 door panel on a 7 year old truck. I do not know anyone that would pay for the panel if warranty or the insurance company wasn't. Unfortunate for you but the reality of business.

I'm afraid you'll have to get one from a salvage yard. The good thing is since there were only a couple of interior colors it should be easy to find.

Get a salvage yard gray door panel and have the body shop paint it Khaki. Modern interior paints work pretty good.

There are lots of online vehicle recyclers to search for the parts you need. Google 'online auto recycler'.

I've used car-part.com before but there are many others to choose from. Good luck!

There are no Khaki panels within 350 miles at salvage yards. There are 6 different configurations for Khaki panels. According to trim level and sound system options. I have found a place that buys Chrysler's discontinued parts (and other manufacturers). They supposedly have 6 of the panels by the part number the insurance company came up with. The body shop had a different number and they don't have that number. The body shop is having a guy that repairs plastic panels come in and look to see if he can repair it.

Is Vintage Parts the company with the 6 door panels???

Have a dealer look up your panel by VIN and give you the exact part number along with any old numbers in the supercession chain for that panel. I'm betting that both the insurance company and body shop are using estimating software. I would not trust either number where it is an interior piece and the estimating software may not follow dealer super-cessions.

Just a thought if this has not been done already.

I just looked at 2007 Mega cab in StarParts. There are 90, yes 90 front door panels listed. So there are 45 different ones for your right door. It's no wonder they are not stocked any longer. Post the last six of your VIN and maybe we can give a couple of different options that might work. The different speaker combinations seems to be big factor.

The insurance adjuster came up with one number, the body shop another. I called 2 dealers and they came up with different numbers than insurance, body shop and between themselves. When we pull the actual panel maybe there will be a number molded into it like the switch panel bezels. The last seven of my vin are G821768. It is an SLT J3 Khaki interior, trim code M9. The panel has satin metal trim not woodgrain. I have the build sheet printout that Chrysler sent me.

Found one, and it is before the price increase. The chances of them selling it are slim, so you should be able to get it for the old price. Be sure you give them the VIN and double check the application as I'm far from a parts guy. They should be able to snap a photo of it to confirm it is correct.

Nice job there sag2!!!!!! That right there boys and girls is how it is done. Use the tools at your disposal....

sag2, do you want to move to Maine and sell parts for big ugly trucks with us????

Piece of cake once you adjust to the climate change........:D

No, I'm really not a parts guy, I'll stick to service for now. It must be my nature to ask why or why not, when someone tells you something. There are many different angles to finding parts, especially when the PN supersedes. Many parts guys don't look up and/or down the chain.
And I'm in LA this week and 80 degrees is mighty nice this time of year.

Thanks sag2. That was the same part number one of the dealers here gave me. The body shop found a guy in Little Rock (Dr. Plastic) who came out, looked at it and repaired mine. You can't tell it was ever damaged. He perfectly matched the finish and texture. I will keep the information you provided on file.

jdross440 do you have any info on this Dr. Plastic I wonder if they can fix dash cracks. I am in Jonesboro but end up in Little Rock often that might work for me.

I finally had time to call the body shop. The place was called Dr. Vinyl in Little Rock, Ar 501-378-3962. She had called it Dr. Plastic when I was there but when I called she said no, it was Dr. Vinyl. There is a company called Dr. Plastic but they sell plastic products.

I've been in the parts business most of my life. For a part to be stocked, weather its at the store/warehouse/manufacture, it has to move/be sold several times a year. Interior trim pieces are the slowest moving items there are. When you compare them to service items, its a night and day difference. Interior items are made on a limited run because of this. They only make the color/style piece for a given amount of units. Once the inventory is gone, they sometimes will do a supersession from one number to another but its most likely not going to be the exact same part you need. Seatbelts are an example. When you have an older unit and need a replacement, most likely you will get a belt but the color is different. You have no choice. I try to explain to people another way to look at it. Look at your place of work. You have productive employees and deadbeats. The productive employee is going to make the company money and therefore will be kept around. The deadbeat is going to be watched and most likely launched because they are costing the company money from lack of production. Of course there will be some employers who do the opposite. Your parts are the same way. I used to get people coming in to say that they had just got this item, or that there are tons of these being sold and why don't you have this. They inventory gets tracked. Systems will record the amount of sales and tell you what to stock up on or to minimize amounts. Also it will record lost sales. If you show enough lost sales on an item, it alerts you to start stocking it. If you have never sold it, it is not going to be stocked. You will stock lots of service parts because they sell and no interior stuff because they don't sell AND there are too many variations with color, trim type/style, production date differences etc. Another thing I used to see is when I was at the dealers, you would periodically be able to send back unproductive parts to the manufacture for credit. Some of the items went back to them, some of the parts were under a scrap credit and you actually tossed them in the dumpster. Lots of interior parts. Even the manufacture didn't want them laying around collecting dust. By the way, you get taxed on your inventory. Another reason not to keep the stuff around. Why pay taxes on non moving items?

Bigger Parts-Problem then a Doorpanel.

My ABS Unit #5114538AB has Died - Truck sits down and Chrysler tells me there is NO part in Stock - back order!
How can they have such an important part nit ready to ship for a 10 Year old Truck.
I'm upset about such stupidness!!!!

Hi Ross

I tried to order, Tasca came back with the same answer, National Backorder, no Data for delivery.
So did SteveWhite, so did factorymoparts, so did my Dealer and on....

I go nuts, now I have a 50000$ FLOWER POT in my Backyard, not allowed to use on the Road because of a 50$ piece of electronic **** that MOPAR is not willing to deliver!!!!
