Truck went in for 4 recalls on Monday. Got truck back last night Tuesday. They got the tailgate pins realigned and the grid heater replaced . The could not do the particulate matter sensor or module because parts were on back order. They told me they had the parts when I set up the appointment 6 weeks ago.So I can’t tell under the hood that they did any work at all. Did they just check the killer bolt not loose. Or replace the grid heater . One thing about going to the dealer the ball gets passed around so much nobody really knows what went on or didn’t. And it’s all in the computer to farther confuses it all. So how hard is it to replace the grid heater. How long would it take? Do mechanics and dealers cheat the system and say they replaced something and don’t and still get reimbursed for the work.I just really hate taking my truck to the dealer. I always have a bad feeling I have been taken after going to the dealer. All servicing will be done by my Indy diesel shop At least I think I can trust them??

The recall is for the grid heater relay not the grid heater. The relay is on the passenger side next to the rubber tube between the air cleaner box and the turbo.

My local CDJR dealer is great, been great and everything. But what drew me away from the Cummins was the grid heater fire potential. Even though they have a fix for it, I was comfortable with it since I park my truck in my garage attached to my house. I got great insurance and everything, but knowing my luck, it would've caught fire.

Hopefully no "fire" related issues in a few years.

I removed the air box and tube and air cleaner today. I found the grid heater relays. They don’t look new to me at all . With a strong light they look as old and dirty as everything else under the hood after 20 k 2 years of driving. The paperwork said they replaced it . I say bull . What to do.

What's the part number on it?

You shouldn't have to remove anything to see the part or part number. There is also only one relay.

When it comes to the relay deal, I would think they are pretty honest. It's pretty much in the open, I was able to get a pic of mine with out too much hassle.

It's right there so they probably can do it very quickly.

Mine is a mopar 68605435ab. Toodp195322329. I don’t know how you changed it by just removing the top hose clamp and moving the hose out of the way. Did you disconnect the battery’s or not . H still hard to tell if they changed it out. Eyes not would they used to be. Cataract surgery next week.Really Can you tell by the part number that they changed it then

If you meant 68606435AB, then they changed it as that’s the new part. Sounds like a normal dealership doing normal dealership work.

I did not disconnect the batteries.

Yes 606. I had to take a picture With my apple 11 upside down but I got it done .Good to know my dealer changed it out. Thanks John

Want to confirm that part number 68606435AB is the new replacement for relay. Been waiting for 3 months on dealer to replace mine. Winter coming on so I’m going to try and order one myself.

That’s what I used. Ram says parts are readily available, have you talked to your dealership recently?

Dealers are only allowed to order a few a week unless there is “an emergency situation “ a truck that is still drivable is not considered an emergency. Same bs they pulled with the Cp4 recall. Factory doesn’t care if your truck might die or might catch fire. You get your parts when your name comes up, once you have placed your name on the list.
i have family that works for Chrysler, he says since they became FCA Stelionas things have gotten really bad. He misses the Dalmer Chrysler days. They at least tried to have a plan and parts in place for recalls.

I remember the days when you buy a Dodge RAM Cummins truck, you'd get a pamphlet referring new owners to the TDR community.

I did give a member referral to a fellow at work at that has a 2013 2500 CTD. Not sure if he signed up or not, but I did my good deed.

I recall back in August several online Mopar dealers had tons of the relays listed for sale to the public, I recall dealer one who listed having 172 relays in stock, now with the strike who knows... Oh when I had mine done last month they had the relay sitting on the shelf...
