2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission I need tires for my Dodge 0ne ton 1995

The tires are getting old and need replace LT 215/85 R 15 is the size that I need. Where the best place to purchase them at a decent price. I just started checking on prices.

They should be 16", not 15". There are lots of palaces to look, and just as many opinions. Wal-Mart does have decent buys, and most are made in the USA. Costco in another one that some people like. I personally like someone that has plenty of stores so you have warrantee coverage while on the road.

I only run Michelin LTX on my 2nd gen truck. Best tires I've ever used, and I get them from Discount Tire. Granted they discount them less than say Goodyears, but I think they're worth it.

eBay has some good prices on tires free shipping on a lot of em also 235/85/16 is the same height as a 265/75/16 but still a 235 width.

Not looking to hijack the thread but what tire size options are there for a 2nd Gen 3500? Given the dually config, I assume limitations apply for the back but how big can you go and then what about the front? Always the same tires as the rear? New to the dually world and the front end looks a little out of place / just small compared to the rear. Thank you....C

There no Discount tire close to me. I am south of Pittsburgh, Pa. about 65 miles a small town Waynesburg. Maybe by the end of March the weather will be better so I can get new tires. You fellows have been great teaching me about tires. My Motor Home sits in the garage waiting for nice weather.

How about Costco, I think I just saw an email for 70 or 80 off on 4 Michelin's which they run every few months. While we were on vacation one time I noticed I saw like 20 Costco's and 1 Discount Tire. If you go to Costco keep your valve stem caps as they put the Green ones on to signify Nitrogen inflation. The problem with the Green caps is they dry out and fall off.

Just got six new general grabber AT2s in 235/85/16 (stock size for my truck) out the door was $1020. I have ran them before in 285/75/16 and got good wear out of them. Stock size for your 95 is 215/85/16. You can run 235s easily. Pre 2001 trucks had single piston front calipers/ rear drums, thus the difference in tire size. With the increase in braking came larger tire size

I used to get good deals at Costco, before they refused to put any non-stock tire size on. Just stay away from Toyo Mud Terrains, at least in the 35x12.5R17. Too much squirm.

I have always been a big fan of Costco, but I will no longer purchase tires and batteries from them. Part of the agreement in buying tires from Costco is that they are suppose to rotate and re-balance. Well, my experience in the past few years is that they always find something wrong and refuse to rotate and balance the tires. I wind up taking them to Discount Tire and they will do the work and most of the time without charge, regardless of whether I purchased them there or not. Costco will only fix flats if you purchase the tire from any of their stores. Discount Tire will fix flats anytime, without charge no matter where I purchased the tires. They even fixed a wheelbarrow tire for me at no charge. Costco will not install new batteries. Sam's Club will and most of time are a bit cheaper.

Discount Tire stores in the Rocky Mountain and Pacific states are plentiful Even more stores than Costco's.

235/85/16 will fit and is the same height as a 265/75/16 . My truck actually has 265/75/16 on the front and 235/85/16 on the rear

I have run into issues with finding good traction tires for snow/mud in a 215 size. Many years ago I moved up to 235/85R16 LT in a BFGoodrich commercial TA traction tire. They have the mountain/snow rating stamped in, and they do really well on most offroad and onroad surfaces. I am on my 3rd set, I typically get 50-70K on a set in my truck and I tow really heavy. The only drawback is that with 235/85R16's and the older, smaller offset in the wheels that came with the 215's, the tires will "kiss" on the duals when you get over 3800 lbs payload in the rear. Despite the warnings I have heard over the years, mine touch regularly and I have never blown a tire on the rear.
If you are worried about the touching in the rear - search for wheels from a 2000-2002 dually. If you can find them, they have a quarter inch more offset, and gives you a half inch more clearance.
My tire dealer has been in business in the same location for 50 yrs, and has lots of commercial accounts with fleet trucks running the commercial TA tires. Bang for the buck they are hard to beat, and for traction in mud and snow I haven't found anything better that has good road manners. They are also studdable if your area allows.

I finally got my tires Michelin 10 ply. 6 at a cost $1450 out the door with metal valve stems. That was the best price I could find around here. The 95 coming along very nicely. I clean and waxed it yesterday. It will be jacked up and the underbody will be cleaned. Then I will paint the frame. It has new shocks already. My 95 still looks new mu buddy says. They think I am too picky about the way I take care of the 95. Its 20 years old now.

I get all of my tires from Discount Tires. They always take good card of me. And if you ask them, they will lower the price. The last time I bought tires for my truck, I was out of the door (install, tax, and even the road hazard waranty) for under $524 (for my truck, that is $131/tire).
BTW, NEVER buy tires when they are not on sale.
