The Eco Diesel has been out for a while now and is doing well. I have suspicions that if the Ram 1500 had the Cummins instead, sales would be even higher.

Now that Nissan has a genuine Cummins engine, who plans to buy one right away to add to the fleet?

Have no Need for Anything Nissan Makes I don't Care that it has a Cummin's in it . And would Never Buy a Nissan Product . Have a Eco Diesel Powered Jeep and Dodge/Ram and Jeep did their hmework when they desided to run the 3.0 V6 Diesel . True it's Not a Cummin's But what have we all Said for year's.What Makes More Sense up and Down with the Rod or V style swinging both Way's ????

Looking

I will be looking at this truck when it hits the dealer lot just to check it out. I do plan on driving up in my truck to show them what a real truck sounds and looks like. I hope they I ask if I want to trade. I will just look at the salesman and laugh at them until I can't take it.

Voted that I'm 'waiting to see', but I'm excited and happy the truck is being made/sold.

My thoughts exactly. I'll probably be replacing my 1/2 ton soon with another. But will keep the Nissan in mind for a few years down the road if they do well.

I viewed the Motor Trend test drive of the Cummins equipped Frontier. The reviewer never stopped grinning.
Hopefully, they've got a winner. Competition is healthy. Time will tell.

Truck is too small for me especially since we bought a new 5er this last weekend and the wife drives a VW TDI. So no need for a 1/2 ton diesel truck for me but this will be good for people who are looking for a 1/2 ton truck.

I voted "not driving a nissan". I'm happy with my Rams and no need for a new truck for a long time...but I've said that before too. Nothing against the Nissan brand in particular, but I have a 3500 Dually for hauling a camper and 1500 EcoDiesel for daily economy and light towing so no real need for an in-between Nissan. Plus I'm guessing the price will be premium and there's no dealer within 200 miles of where I live. It's not like owning a Honda motorcycle or power equipment product where there's a dealer in every small town.

I have never been a fan of Nissan and I don't need a smaller truck so my answer will be No. I have my Dodge to pull the RV. I don't drive enough daily to justify a diesel. David

It has a Cummins, so that should be good, however my Ram pulls the 5er and makes a perfect daily driver without the need for another vehicle.

Its a 1/2 ton, so it will be limited for ability on paper, but how many members here use their CTD well beyond what Ram says it can do? I have no plans in the near future to purchase a 1/2 ton let alone any other truck. My 07 C&C 3500 only has 55K miles, so it will be a long time before I need to replace it, if ever, I voted for the beer. :D

This poll needs another option: "None of the Above" I have no use/need for a 1/2 ton truck and have no interest in a Nissan product. The nearest Nissan dealer is over 50 miles away and it's only 6 miles to our local Ram, Ford, Chevy, GMC, and Toyota dealers. I quit beer over 45 years ago.

I thought this would be a fun poll to see who's interested or out. Most of us on here have been in Dodge/Ram Cummins for a long time and are pretty dedicated. Now over on forum 'B', when the Nissan announcement was made, all sorts of people were quick to throw Dodge/Ram under the bus. I'm guessing most of those don't really need a heavy truck and bought one solely because of the trendy thing to do. Who knows... For me, I need a heavy truck and my heavy trucks will always be Dodge.

Hey Nissan....just in case you are listening.....while you are at it, drop that baby Cummins in the NV Passenger and the Armada line.

I've always wished the small diesel vehicles would make a stand in the US but with diesel fuel so highly priced nowadys and the high price of a vehicle with a Diesel engine, it might not ever happen.

I'm still holding judgment on the new Cummins until the real world numbers come out. As much as I'd like to have seen Ram use one in their half ton truck, I personally don't feel the 5.0 was the right engine for a half ton. The 3.0 is doing wonderful in the Ram, pulls down solid fuel mileage and will tow anything a half ton truck is capable of towing. The 8 speed trans keeps the engine right in the sweet spot. HUGE difference between it and the 4 speed slush box in my dinosaur, built trans and all. My neighbor down the road has had one since last summer and puts several hundred miles a week on it for work. It has worked flawlessly so far and returns a consistent 25+ mpg on the highway. I took a ride in it one day to help him pick up a new lawn mower and it is a great handling rig. Engine/transmission works seamlessly together. Aside from the anemic payload ratings I'd say Ram really hit it out of the park with this combo. I'm sure the Cummins will be a great engine but I'd be very surprised if it returns the same economy as the Ram, to me that's what buying a light duty diesel pickup should be about.

JR, let me add one thing. As much as I am interested in all of the new vehicles coming out, I am going to have a really hard time not buying another Ram when I replace my 2010. It has been used very hard and has been flawless. ~80K and nothing more than 1 set of front brakes, 16 spark plugs, and oil changes. The only non-regular maintenance items were both front hub bearings done under warranty. That's pretty darn good in my opinion for a truck that is in 4-wheel drive on rough terrain daily.

The only complaint I would have with the current Ram 1/2 ton chassis it is a little bit too low. I have a rock modified rocker panel to prove it. :-laf

Very solid points. As someone else pointed out, I'd take a look if it was in an Armada or other fullsize SUV.

I know several men who run general repair garages. They all agree. Nissan vehicles are bad when it comes to repair. Needlessly complicated to perform service and general repair. Only the Germans are worse. Hopefully the Cummins won't suffer from packaging compromises.
