Boys, I have a confession to make.......................I like Lady Ga Ga.

As with a lot of folks, I only knew of Lady Ga Ga from news clips showing her in her weird weird costumes. I did give her some what of a pass on that because she is a show biz performer and needs a "hook" to set her apart from the others. After all (to you guys who are my age), Paul Revere and the always wore revolutionary war army clothes, the Beatles wore "Beatle suits" and the the "Sgt Peppers" costumes etc.

But, several months ago, I saw a show my wife was watching on TV that had Lady Ga Ga teaming with Tony Bennett (if you dont know who he is, look him up). They were singing the kind of songs that Tony Bennett would sing..........Lady Ga Ga was great. She far outclasses anyone else Ive heard in the last many years, and IMO, is up there with the Ella Fitzgeralds, Judy Garlands, etc.. On top of that she came across as a very nice person. Not the personality you may have seen or thought you saw.

I didn't watch the oscars. Never have. But I did see the clips of Lady Ga Ga singing a medly from the Sound of Music. She was absolutely fantastic again. And, (once again IMO), she sang the music from Sound of Music better than Julie Andrews.

There, I've said it. I feel better now.

Don't feel alone. Aside from the meat suits and such she is extremely talented.

I have watched her sing accompanying herself on the piano with out any other back up. She is a great singer.

She had been a singer for lots of years, nobody paid her any attention. The story I read said that she was going to give up on a singing life and be one of the Regular People of the world. An agent was at one of the bar room shows she was performing and had seen her talent and told her that she has to have some kind of ATTRACTION to draw attention to her. Its not enough to just have talent now days you have to have some sort of Gimmick!! She started with the dressing differently and her career took off. If you noticed now she's going back to a more Mainstream lifestyle, AND STILL DOING QUITE WELL!!

Another talent in some peoples opinion is Carrie Underwood, Don't get me wrong she can sing (just look at her bank account) but to me she is a SCREAMER vocalist. In every song there is a verse or note that is called the MONEY NOTE!! she try's to hard in her songs to make EVERY VERSE A MONEY NOTE!! Her song " Something in the Water " she repeats that line time after time after time YELLING AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS. Listen to the song and at the beginning of that line and the end of the line her voice is not a clean cut off, she is Gasping for air at the cut off of the note. THAT'S PUSHING IT OUT FOR ALL SHE HAS!!

Most times it don't last to long for people that do this, Tanya Tucker comes to mind. When she was a new start her voice was clear and clean then she got into the Screaming and developed Vocal cord polyps and her voice became what it is today, RASPY !!

Carrie Underwood also made a song with Tony Bennett, I was in another room when I heard it on TV and went to see who this beautiful voice belonged to? It was Carrie Underwood singing, a Duet is Far!! different than being a Soloist. She can sing but with the immaturity of todays NEW COUNTRY music listeners they aren't worried about talent they want to hear about being drunk in the back of a Pickup truck on a turn row in a corn field. Its all about MONEY to the Talent of today and I don't blame them. Singers come and go so fast these days you have to make it while you can and move on from there.

just my opinion. But I think (hope) that Lady Ga Ga's career will take a different path. She certainly has the talent, and she has now been "discovered".
BTW, many singers have had gimmicks over the years.

I may be a little different in my Musical tastes, I don't care if a person is ????? or ????? I don't judge talent on ????? If I did there would be a VERY SHORT list of people that I would listen to. All artists are a DIFFERENT kind of person no matter what their artistic talent is.

Don't know if people judge by sexual preference but I have not heard to very many people say that they don't care for Elton John? A fruit cake FOR SURE!! KD Lang is another sort of obscure Dyke Singer with a Beautiful voice. Do I care? No!! I don't. I listen to talent not what kind of carpet she likes to Munch on.

Hey years ago in 1969 I saw Liberace perform at Charles Schulz Ice Arena in Santa Rosa California. He put on a great show! Charles had just built the arena for his young daughter! Had a lot of his cartoon characters in the lobby. SNOKING

Bill everybody at one time or another has done some drinking and had a good time doing it. Its not that im against this, Hell I still!! throw more than my share back sometimes. I have never made it out to be something to be proud of.

Country music has always been about family, Love & Love lost, its a part of life that most have gone thru to become a person. Seems like there are quite a few NEW Country singers out that have fantastic voices and have proved it with some of their songs. But then the drinking songs come out and they jump on the band wagon and forget what got them to the place they are, and go stupid with songs that for ONE are not Country and all about Drinking.

I said above it all about money and what sells, and that's the business part of the industry.

Tell me who in the world thinks Taylor Swift is a Country Singer? if anyone does they need to listen to children's music on the Disney channel and be happy. She's a 24 year old little girl that is stuck at 12 years old. Does she make money? YOU BET but its Mommy and Daddy that are giving their little girls age 10 to 17 the money to buy her CD's and Billboard makes her out to be the biggest thing country in YEARS!!

More notable is Miranda Lambert, Her newest song is a Boy Scout campfire sing a long song and she's so country she calls her cowboy boots Tony Lomas, I wouldn't wear a pair of Tony Lama boots to save my XXX but you would think that a Country Girl could at least know what the hell she's talking about. Along with her Husband " Flake Shelton" another fine example of how he captured Miranda's hart. He said that her boyfriends would buy her drinks to win her hart he bought her the bottle!! Nothing like calling your wife a XXXX and bar fly.

There are a Gang of what I call Country Boy Bands, guys that made it by singing duets with other Guys. There are so many that its not hard to find if you want to take a look. Again they talk about drinking and party times. Because IMO they cant sing if they had to!! a solo career would be OUT OF THE QUESTION!!

We cant leave the little cute squeaky voice girls out they are the little Girl bands. They all sing about the same thing the boys want in their pants take them out drinking to do it. Nothing wrong with a squeaky voice hell Dolly Parton did pretty well IMO.

I use to watch music videos to get an idea of where the artists were drawing their inspiration from, Don't have to NOW, tilt back a bottle of JD and I'm inspired enough to sing songs all night long at the saloon.

Not to let any of the songs from the Black Community go without something said? All us White Folks know we are the ones that stand between 90% of them and a quality life, its not because they are XXXXed up human beings that cant seem to get in all in one bag, and they have to blame anyone but them selves!! so lets sing songs that bad mouth Whites!!

The point that's being made Bill is that song shows where most people's realities are at in their lives. With Country Music it must be getting drunk and singing about it, Now they have made a TV show to further inspire our young people, A bunch of mid 20's people??( people that's questionable) in Georgia I think that are so PLASTERD all the time that the time I seen a glimpse of it one face planted himself getting out of a car " Down South Party" So this is what makes our society what it is today. I know that I for one am so proud of what America has become that I feel a need to HIDE.

For the first time in my life and travels, when Penny her Sister and I went on vacation I was actually ashamed to tell people that we were from the US. We are fast becoming the Joke of the world.

don't flatter yourself It had nothing to do with you and your opinion, you are in my eyes entitled to have an opinion, that's not true with some on this site as you know. Like I said I do like lady Ga Ga even if she was normal, and if you watch some of the awards shows she has said and found out first hand that she doesn't need a Gimmick to have her music enjoyed by the world because SHE HAS TALENT!!
