Titanium 25E30 - New to me.

Swapped out my 20 year old Cruise America Elkhorn slide-in camper for a lightly used 2008 Titanium 25E30 5th wheel. We had put about 200,000 miles on the old camper with 2 trips to Alaska, numerous trips around the entire country, from WA to NY to FL to CA and back to WA.

New rv has some nice features: independent front electric jacks, electric rear jacks, thermopane windows, built in vac, builtin water filter, 16" wheels with E rated Maxxis 8008 tires, heated tanks, and electric awning. Another nice feature: GVW is about 10,500. I haven't had a chance to weigh it yet.

Do you know the Seabird man Peter Harrison and Shirley Metz? I believe they have a large amount of land on the point next to the channel.

Nice looking 5th wheel. Find out which years had the wrong length axles and wheel offsets. Dexter Axle should know!

Nice 5ver, enjoy the new roominess over the slide in camper, its got to feel like your in a Villa. But good advise is to get rid of those Maxxis tires from China, although they are probably the best Chinese tires you can buy, in the end, their still Chinese, and I'm willing to bet their original. I just replaced my orignal Maxxis tires with Michelin XPS rib, but they were 10 years old and for the last 5 years the 5ver only moved an 1/8th of a mile, to and from storage site to Camp site. Sorry to give a negative on your new RV, but the damage the Chinese tires can do is expensive. That is a nice 2nd Gen truck you have as well, there is someting about that color that make those trucks look so good, my Buddy has a 2nd Gen with that color and it allways looks so good, even though its a 2nd Gen. My first 2nd Gen was a 2500HD 360 gasser in red. Enjoy your new home away from home.

Like RVTRKN states, ST tires are not the best. They should be replaced every three years if they last that long. If you plan to still travel a lot put Michelin XPS Ribs or Bridgestone Duravis R250's on it. These are both steel ply carcass tires, with the R250 costing about 50 each less, but just as good. I ran Ribs for 6.5 years and 40K plus miles and now R250 for the last few years.

For a poly carcass LT tire I think the Duravis R500HD is a really good choice. It is a true commercial grade tire, with a two ply poly carcass.

LT215/85R16E should have plenty of extra capacity for your setup.

I'm not surprised that the tire thing came up I've been reading this forum for 15 years so I do know a bit about trailer tires. I figure I'm running the tires at about 1000 pounds under their max rating. They are only 3 years old, so I think I'm OK for now. The Dexter axle recall had to do with using non-zero offset wheels on the 6000# Nevr-Lube axles. The proper wheels are on this rv.

I was just giving good advise, there has been to many horror stories, and it was almost a bad weekend for me as I was preping my older RV to leave for PIR NASCAR races. Two of my cheap Carlisle ST tires had bubbled at only two years old, and thankfully I'm pretty thorough with my pretrip inspections. On the other end, I had a blowout on my boat trailer and if it wasn't for a well constructed trailer I would have destroyed the fender. But I got what I paid for, with cheap passenger tires.

Good luck with your new to you RV, it has a nice layout as you can see on the You-tube video. I bought my Arctic Fox used and got a smoking deal on it.

Nice rig. I had looked for Glendale/Titanium a few years ago, but couldn't find a smaller one. Too bad they went out of business. They build a quality unit. I ended up with an Arctic Fox and have been happy with it.

We made our first trip with the Titanium last weekend. I was very curious about fuel consumption. My truck, with the old slide-in camper (about 3400#) averaged about 15 mpg. Pulling the 10,000# Titanium for 200 miles in 90 degrees, I got 12.2 mpg. There was about 15 miles of city type driving in the 200, and most of the rest of the time I was doing about 60 mph. Had some 20 mph cross winds at times and truck handled that OK. Felt a little better after airing up the truck rear tires from 63 to 70 psi for the return trip.

Everything worked well Still have to fine tune the brake controller a bit more. It comes on to hard at first and then not hard enough when pushing the pedal harder. The trailer brakes will lock up, so I know they are good. The controller is a 15 year old Tekonsha Voyager. I'm open to suggestions on replacing it with a more modern unit.

I have a '04 titanium. 28/33. There was a potential problem with the NevRLube bearings that Dexter had on these trailers. When you use NevRLube bearings, there can be "0" offset on the wheels. Glendale RV was using a wheel that was not "0" offset. When Glendale went out of business, Dexter contacted owners of Titanium trailers that had the NevRlube bearings. They offered at a reduced price for you to either replace the 4 drums with new NevRlube bearings and you had to find someone who had "0" offset wheels that would fit your tires. Or you could replace the two axels with the standard drums and bearings.

There was never any problem with the axels. Just the wheels that Glendale put on these trailers with the NevRlube bearings.

I went with the replacement hubs and NevRlube bearings and found new wheels at my local tire store.

Have been very happy with the Titanium. It is now 11 years old and looks good.
