Hi.
I'm wanting to restore the horn chirp on locking my doors again. I cancelled it using my key remote by getting out of the truck, closing the doors, holding the lock button, wait 4 seconds, pushing the Panic button and releasing both at the same time.
It cancelled the chirp but won't restore it. That's what the Owners Guide said to do. What am I doing wrong. I decided I want the chirp back.

Any ideas? I'm sure I've lost my mind or doing something out of step. I've tried the methods on 2005 dodge Ram and it didn't work either. I've tried both of my remotes and the panic button works good.

I had turned off the seatbelt warning chirp, would this affect the lock chirp?
Thank you Brothers in Dodge!;) Herb

HORN CHIRP DISABLING / ENABLING
The horn chirp can be toggled using a scan or by using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter that is already
programmed to the vehicle.

2. Fasten the seat belt (this will cancel the seat belt chime).
3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
4. Press and hold the LOCK button for 4 seconds. Within 6 seconds with the LOCK button still depressed, press
the UNLOCK button. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons.

STANDARD PROCEDURE - RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMING
New Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters can be programed using the scan tool and the proper Diagnostic
Procedures manual. The scan tool can provide confirmation that the PCI data bus is functional, and that all of the
electronic modules are sending and receiving the proper messages on the PCI data bus.
The following procedure can be used as long as one programmed transmitter is available:
NOTE: When entering program mode using that programmed fob, ALL currently programmed fobs will be
erased and they will have to be reprogrammed for the vehicle. If program mode is entered and no action is
performed, the previously programmed fobs will continue to function.
1. Enter the vehicle and close all doors.
2. Fasten the seat belt (this will cancel the seat belt chime). Turn the ignition to the RUN position.

Thank you for a great write up. I tried this and what my owners manual says and still no luck. Maybe I don't really want it back. LOL I wanted it so I could tell if I really did lock it without visual. I removed it last week and decided I like it back. Not sure where I'll go now.

Personally I find all the "honking & chirping" from people locking their vehicles very annoying. It is a real annoyance at the campgrounds. I have mine set for lights flash only and find that sufficient. JM2C David

that seems to me like a complete different method then what is written in the manual.
you have to do this from inside the truckand ignition turned on.

i do this on/off procedure often becausesometimes i want the chirp so i can check the status from inside my camper and sometimes i switch it off because to dont annoy neighbor campers.

To DISABLE (cancel) the horn chirp feature:1. Enter the vehicle and close all doors.

6. Turn the ignition ON or wait 60 seconds.

there is NO Panic Button involved in this procedure.

So true!

X3.
Everytime I hear it I think, why is he bragging about locking his door?

I was at a Best Western Hotel recently and all night some A-hole kids had got their parents keys or stupid adults and horn chirped all night ever once in a while. I live in the country and want the chirp again to tell if it's locked in my pole barn where I keep it.
When I locked it where I don't want people disturbed, you lock with the door controls quietly and close the doors. I'll try the way without the Panic button. Thanks, Herb
