Now why would you say that? You can get a Cummins ISX15 in a KW, a Pete, a Mack, a Freightliner just to name a few so why not two different pick ups. I know it's a new concept to the "car/pickup" market, but it has been around for decades in the HD trucks.

Have you no faith in Cummins at all? Why would you even suggest that the engine might "bomb"?

Just my humble thoughts :)

:D When my wife buys her new Tahoe, I want a Ford engine in it.

It may happen Fiat owns CaseIH farm equipment. Most of the motors have been changed over to Fiat in most of the tractors.

I'm on my second Cummins motor wrapped in Ram/Dodge sheet metal.

If Fiat dumps Cummins, I will be test driving GM and Ford and be very open to switching (again). Might stay Ram/Fiat but I'll certainly be playing the field again.

I grew up Chevy, went Ford for a while, switched to Dodge Ram after the 6.0 Powerstroke issues and crappy dealer service on it.

Ram is in the middle of a ratings war with Ford (GM seems to have dropped out.) If they were to switch engine suppliers (and I don't believe they will anytime soon), the new engine would have to be at least as capable as the 2016 (or then current) Cummins 6.7L - I don't know if any of the Fiat diesels could fill that bill. Of course, down the road, the proposed new EPA fuel efficiency standards may have an impact on future diesel engine offerings if they reach down to include the Ram 2500s and above.

GM, dropped out because the Alison 1000 is at it's limits. The Duramax has a lot more in its tank! SNOKING

Allison could supply the 2000 or 3000 series. Not sure the weight of them though. :) That's what's behind our Cummins in most commercial applications.

I agree that the duramax could easily be tuned for more torque. I'm partial to the I6 configuration vs the V8 configuration, but am impressed with the duramax.

Anyone know why duramax has the biggest exhaust pipes (when comparing ram, ford, gm)? I've seen some huge exhaust pipes on those gmc & chevy 3500's.
