I have two vehicles affected by this, my '15 Ram and my '14 Durango. Being in IT myself, I'm still not too concerned about the likelihood of this happening in the real world, at least now. I figure I have a better chance of getting struck by lightening on the very day I won the lottery.

Or in my case having Halle Berry walk into the office today telling me that she wants to have my babies.......odds are about the same....:-laf

I downloaded teh patch onto my computer, a Mac. Opened it up, moved the file it instructed me to do so on the website to the zip drive, but when I inserted drive into USB port in center console of my truck, the display read, not recognizable, readable. I even tried to load it into the other USB port on the lower rigth side of the dash, I think that one is a charger. Are they(factory) going to send a driver directly to load up?

I downloaded it on my Mac and because they said it needed to be the only thing on the USB stick, I mounted the USB on a Windows virtual machine and removed all the various . files that OS X writes. I didn't have any issues using the media center USB port, not the charging port.

Try removing the . files on a windows machine and see if that works for you.

I tried downloading patch yesterday, but had trouble. Called dealer to let them install the patch and service writer read me a letter, saying that FC would be sending us a USB drive with the patch on it. No time frame was given.

Given the spanking that FC just got from the NHTSA for dragging their feet on other recalls I'll bet they are a bit more speedy on this one.

Updated mine the other day. Follow the instructions to the letter in order to make it work--a little complicated, however it is doable. The automatic downloader on the webpage seemed to be more problems than solution, so I downloaded the .zip file directly to the computer, then extracted the file to the thumb drive. Make sure to put the thumb drive into the usb port (adjacent to the SD card port, not the port with the flap) with the truck in the "off" position, then go to the "run" position without starting the truck and wait for the radio to recognize the drive (30 seconds or so). Follow the instructions on the radio and go through the update process. Took about 5-10 minutes to read and write all the files to the appropriate locations. Recommend you download and print the instructions from the Ram website for complete details. All that being said, if you're not comfortable with flashing a computer, and combined with the relatively low risk of someone hacking your truck, wait for the next time you go to the dealer to get it done.

Dodge Service help needed

I've done a few searches but it appears I'm the only one that "bricked" his 8.4A with this update. It's failed/stalled every time it goes to look for the wireless air card (step 10 of 11) and it is unable to recover. Are there any Dodge service types that frequent here that could lend a guy a hand? I'm pretty sure my dealer will see the same issue and then tell me he doesn't know how to fix it. The log file has been attached if that can be of any help.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the Gov should spank the thieves that broke into (Your) or My system, I vote that FCA hire someone to hack the fingers off the trash that violates criminal LAW, its kinda tough to use a keyboard or screen W/O fingers. The real problem lies with the hackers that break laws (electronic) and the Gov for not punishing criminals that commit hacking.
