You probably won't feel it because of all the torque management these boogers have. If you could really feel 900 lbs ft/torque, we'd be ripping axles from beneath our trucks, and the axles of anything attached behind our trucks!

Still a lot of power tho!

Which is still okay since it should develop the full torque in the higher gears when it is needed. With the low gearing of the Aisin we don't need to make 900 lb/ft at the crank at low speeds.

I am waiting on a 4500 with pickup bed.

With the very high ratings of the 3500 I am not sure Ram will ever make it. The 3500 pickup is rated to tow more than the 4500 C&C, but the 4500 C&C has a higher payload capacity... mainly due to it being a Class IV vs a Class III pickup. Ram could easily make the 3500 pickup a 4500 with Class IV GVWR and not change anything while offering a 15K+ GVWR

An OEM 19.5" option would go well with the 3500 thou.

I would stay with the 3500 and I have been told by many people that the 4500 & 5500 engines are de-rated and will not make the same power levels.

I am 15K in pic. Front 5,460 rear 9,580. Still well within axle ratings. Rear really does the job keeping the truck sitting at the proper towing level.

Exactly... so why does Ram need a 4500 with a bed when you can do that with a 3500. How many people need a 12K RAWR with a bed?

I don't worry about the 14K GVWR, it's just a number to keep the truck in it's class. Just looking under my 15 compared to my 11 the 15 is a BEAST!

I agree conpleatly. I am also fairly certain the 12,300 on your '11 was not even close to its actual limits.

FWIW Ram advertises the 4500/5500 as having the best in class 50K psi frame too... Strong that frame is.

I have had two 3500 DRWs and this last one I put 245x19.5s on it and there is no comparison in handling. I am amazed the new 3500 still has 17"x235s 10 ply. I have been out west on I40 with tire grooves in the pavement and both my 3500s would walk a little. The 19.5s would never. 4500 would give you an OEM 19.5. JMHO Plus I will get over 100k on these tires.

I run 19.5's on my SRW and know the feeling!! However, you probably won't ever see them on an OEM becuase 17's are cheaper, ride better, have better winter performance, and are cheaper (just not cheaper per mile). The rear axle is only loaded to 80% of tire capacity at the RAWR with 17's so what is the incentive. Speed rating is also an issue. There are more now than a few years ago, but very few 19.5's are speed rated for over 75 and that isn't going to bode well with many 3500 owners. Even the ones that are 81 mph rated would upset some folks with a 81mph speed limiter.

I won't get 100K out of my 19.5's but I should get 50-75% more miles than the 17's I ran. My use, lots of gravel roads towing and empty, is just too hard on tires for a ton of miles.

I had local truck stop regroove my tires maybe 5,000 miles ago and they look like brand new tires.
 
Interesting! I did not look, I wonder what the application is for. They told me they did hot have a 19.5 that would work on my truck.

Technically it won't since you have a 6K FAWR.

It's actually a pretty lame 19.5" wheel. 25xx lbs and only 90 psi. Not good for much, IMHO. I have never been impressed with Alcoa offerings for light/medium duty wheels.

There are lots of other 19.5" options for your truck thou.
