Cargo Capacity question

Its a commercial vehicle designed for long term use and abuse.

I would like a 15 or 16K GCWR to help with the weight of my camper and horse trailer. However, I don't want the derated motors. I'm a bit interested to see what the new F450 comes out as.

I too would like the truck and motor that I have now with the payload capacity of a 4500 diff and tires. I'm just a tad over the rear axle rating when I'm loaded at 10450#.
I could never live with the power of a C/C engine and as well as a daily driver. With my last 3500 I inquired with AAM and they rate the diff at 10,500#, Ram debates it so I'm not concerned about the load that I'm putting on it. I have a friend with a 2014 5500 and I'd drive off a bridge with it if I had to put up with 20km/hr drops in speed on hills!

The C&C's have 325/750 so they aren't anemic and in most lower gears they probably don't have that much different power thanks to torque management.

Actually my buddy and I are loaded almost totally identical both with 30' TT , three atv's, canoes and kayaks and we have run across the scales and are within 1200# of each other and I hold my speed on hills that he is following me and he looses 20 Km/hr on. Maybe he's got a dud of a truck, but I couldn't handle that. He's got 4.30 rear end as well.

Interesting.. Guess your running most hills at or near WOT in 4th or 5th?

4.30's? I thought the options were 4.10, 4.44, and 4.88??

Here's an actual comparison of a C&C vs. a pickup by a TDR member who has owned and towed heavy with both trucks: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/247072-Observations-on-C-C-vs-P-U

You probably won't feel it because of all the torque management these boogers have. If you could really feel 900 lbs ft/torque, we'd be ripping axles from beneath our trucks, and the axles of anything attached behind our trucks!

Still a lot of power tho!

About time for a new one ain't it Horseman? :-laf:-laf:-laf

Oops, your right, it is 4.44's. I don't totally mat the throttle, but y buddy does and it doesn't help him keep up.

Maybe by the time I'm ready to order my next truck in about 2 1/2 years they will be at 1000 FPT!

I wonder if it's a power issue or a gearing/rpm/speed issue?? Just thinking outloud.

The 60hp will make a difference at higher rpms too.

Its a power issue. Nothing a tuner and delete pipe can't fix though. The downside to that is now your on the hook for anything that would have been previously covered under warranty.
