Hey y'all--

I'm moving from FL to NY at the end of this month. I plan to sell my 96 2500 when I get there, and buy something a little less heavy-duty. I'm thinking Trailblazer SS.

Anyway, I searched Autotrader.com to see what trucks are selling for up there. I found NO 12-valve 2wd Cummins 2500s for sale within 200 miles of my zip 10580, but there were about 20 4WDs.

I was hoping my rust-free southern truck would bring a good price, but now I'm not so sure.

Was this a fluke, or will my truck be hard to sell? I admit, if it were 4WD I'd probably be keeping it, so I can understand why they're not popular.

thanks
kevin

Short answer is No. You are not going to find many 2wd trucks up in this area. With that said, my father refused to buy a 4 wheel drive truck for years. He drove 2wd trucks for over 40 years until suddenly at age 70 or so he decided that he was tired of throwing chains on in the snow just to get home.

There may be a market here for yours since a rust free '96 is so rare. But, you may be better off parting with it in the south.

Only "Snow Birds". They prefer extra towing capacity of the 2WD and since they aren't around when there's snow on the ground, they have little use for 4WD.

I am in the U.P. of MI I have a 2000 2wd that I went to TX to get. With the right tires and a counterweight it does just fine. We have a part of a forklift counterweight that we welded a gooseneck ball to it and it plugs into a B&W hitch. My daughter drove a 93 2wd to collage all winter and we have 250" to 300" a year. It will sell. Someone might like your clean truck so munch that they wont drive it in the winter.

Rust free vehicles do bring good money in the northern states. My truck and I are also from Florida and people complement my truck all the time how clean and rust free it is. I say yeah but its a 2wd....they almost always ask if I would sell it lol.
