5ver Electrical woes, a short (very long) story

Years full-timing since retirement

Good Morning,
Has anyone installed a 5th wheel in new dually that is not equipped with the factory gooseneck/5th wheel puck package? My dealer has located a truck that doesn't have this package and I am wondering what I am getting into before I agree to buy it.

Thank you,

This option was not available for my 2012. I installed the Reese Elite series hitch which has an under the box mounting system. There are also other systems out there.

Thank you,

My truck came without the prep kit, I used the B&W Turnoverball hitch #1314. Works great and is very easy to install. The Companion hitch along with it is second to none in my book.

The factory pucks are available and not too hard to install. Tell them to include in deal!

I had the Companion in my 11 Dually that fit into the turn over ball. It was a great hitch. But since you have the option I would go for the pucks!!!!! MUCH better.

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions. They helped us decide to order what we really want for the first time in our lives! Waiting for the 2016 information and then we will order a truck that has the factory pucks. A Laramie dually with the high output/Aisin and the premium bucket seats my wife would like.
Thanks again!

I would suggest taking het to the lot and have her sit in a LongHorn and a Laramie. If you want a nice quality interior the LongHorn can't be beat!

Hi guys new to this forum. I did the install of the below bed fifth wheel hitch prep for my 2014 CC LB. I found that the adding of the frame mounted receiver brackets was fairly easy. The measurement for the holes that needed to be drilled in the bed were not accurate so I measured from a 2015 factory prep long bed at a local dealer. The finished project looks nice and allows for the clear use of the bed. It took about 2 hours to complete.

I went without the 5th wheel prep because I didn't like where the plug was and I wanted to put a 18" box in front of the hitch and one behind the hitch.

I installed the pucks and wiring in mine yesterday. Took me 4 hours. If Ron would have been able to help it would have gone quicker. I am now working through a couple issues with missing parts and the fact that the RVK3270 legs are not spaced correctly on the passengers side.

And we are happy with the Laramie with buckets/full console leather interior.

We drove it home from dealer in Colorado in 48 hours, 1384 miles(409 miles first afternoon, 660 next day, and 315 miles the next morning. Love it! Snoking
